Christmas with your DH questions...
Had some questions re:Christmas and your DH:
1. How much do you normally spend on Christmas gifts- for your family? For your DH?
2. Do you wrap and place all Xmas gifts on Xmas day? Do you try to wake up early and place the gifts under the tree?
3. When do you put gifts in the stockings?
Re: Christmas with your DH questions...
1. the price really varies with the year. Last year we were paying for the wedding still so we just bought each other 1 nice gift for about $200 and that was IT! This year we are in a better situation so I plan on spending around $400-500 on him MAX, I don't know what he's getting me and I have NO suggestions for him! For the family we try to stay around $50.00 per person. DH doesn't have any family left that he buys for. He's an only child and his mom passed away this year. I only have 1 brother, 1 sister and my mom and dad along with bro/sis in-law so it doesn't get too out of hand there. We sponsor a few kids for Christmas but other than that we don't buy any other gifts for friends or anything so we are able to spend a little more on family.
2. I wrap the gifts as I get them and place them under the tree. We normally open them Christmas morning when ever I roll out of bed. DH is an early riser so he ALWAYS beats me out of bed.
3. I put gifts in the stocking before I go to bed Christmas Eve.
1) We try to keep each other to 400 - 500. With family we are looking to be around 1200 total.
2) We don't have a tree so I artfully arrange them in our living room. We seem to exchange gifts a couple of days before christmas.
3) We don't have stockings.
1. The price really varies year by year and I tend to buy things for a couple months before Christmas so I don't really have an answer bc I don't add it up. (and I"m a little afraid to add it up)
2. We put the gifts out on Christmas Eve. If we put the gifts under the tree any more before that we'd open every one of them. As is I already have 2 Christmas gifts from DH because he just can't keep a d@mn secret. haha
3. We didn't have stockings last year, so this will be our first year with them. I'm planning on filling his stocking before I go to bed on Christmas Eve.
1. How much do you normally spend on Christmas gifts- for your family? For your DH? For family it all depends. This year we're spending a bit extra on my parents because they let us live with them for 4 months rent free while our house was being built so we want to get them something nice. It doesn't matter what limit we put on our spending, DH always goes over. It all depends on what he has his eye on, sometimes it is $30, sometimes it is $200.
2. Do you wrap and place all Xmas gifts on Xmas day? Do you try to wake up early and place the gifts under the tree? We don't have kids so I don't really think it is that exciting to wait. I put them under as I wrap them.
3. When do you put gifts in the stockings? We haven't done stockings for a few years now, but we would do them on December 6th/night of December 5th when St. Nick comes.
1. We typically don't exchange gifts (except for small ones in the stockings). We usually do something fun together around the holidays, whether it be going away for a night or 2 or just having a really special night out. That's typically what we do for birthdays too. However, this year I am surprising DH with golf clubs because I know he REALLY wants them (he recently started playing) and has no idea that I'm doing it. Oh, and we spend about $150-$200 on each set of parents. $50 each on siblings, and $30 each on DH's 2 nieces and 1 nephew. And this year we spent $120 on DH's son.
2. Since he has no clue, I won't be bringing out the gift until Christmas night, when we are finally home alone together. I think I will just put a big bow on them and parade them into the living room
3. I put mine in there sometime on Christmas Eve. Usually DH remembers to stick his in there when he wakes up Christmas morning!
1. It depends on what our budget for the month looks like. This year, since I only just went back to work, our gift budget is small so we'll probably spend about $30-50 on each other so the kids can have more.
2. We'll wrap and put them out before Christmas, with a small child in the house it helps with the anticipation.
3. We usually don't do stockings.
1. DH and I usually spend about $500 on each other since we don't have kids, but this year we are trying to cut back some. THis year we decided to buy a Dyson pet vacuum. We will probably spend between $50 and $100 this year.
2. We both wrap our presents before Christmas but we don't put them out until we get ready to open them because our dogs will get into them.
3. We both fill the stockings before Christmas but we don't set them out until we open presents.
1. DH and I usually set a limit on each other and it really varies. This year we have decided to spend $75 on each other. We just bought a VERY expensive camera as a Christmas present for the both of us. So the $75 is just an extra bonus
As far as family, we usually spend the same amount on each person. My siblings and I decided 5 years ago that we weren't going to spend gifts on each other. We usually spend a lot on each other for our birthdays, so we decided to not have the extra pressure of "trying" to find something we may like/want, etc for Christmas. We just spend that extra money on our parents.
2. We wrap gifts as we buy them and place them under the tree. I'm sure when we have kids, that will stop because "Santa" brings them
3. We fill stockings on Christmas Eve. This is the one thing we do not stuff until the night before.
1. I spend between $200 to $300 on him and vice versa. We buy for a total of 16 people. We spend $50 on each parent ($200 total for the 4) and now we spend $25 on siblings and nieces/nephews. We used to spend $50 on each family member but it was just getting to be too much as families expanded.
2. I have one or two wrapping sessions and stack them in the guest room until Christmas Eve when Santa brings them.
3. We stuff stockings on Christmas Eve before going to bed.
1. We dont do Christmas presents unless it is something that we actually need (we both buy ourselves things if we need them throughout the year--we think it is silly to buy stuff at christmas just to have presents under the tree) this year I actually have a few things I need (new robe and slippers, a diaper bag Ive been eyeing) so I will probably get something for DH since I know he will be getting me those things but I will still probably spend maybe $75 at the most
2. If we have gifts for each other we will put them under the tree as we wrap them. I also put the gifts that we will be taking to family christmas under the tree until we go--just so they arent taking up space in our guest room
3. we personally dont do stockings b/c his mom does them for us haha i love it and feel like a kid again when I get fun bubble gum and cute christmas socks in my stocking from MIL
