for most of the sweaters, I fit better in a Medium, where as a few of hte other shirts, I fit better in a small. Normally, I wear a medium but some stores, they are too big in the chest area and I need a small.
Overall, I think their stuff fits pretty true to size. I think it depends on how much room your mom likes in shirts. Based on my experience of normally fitting in a medium and sometimes a larger small, I'd go with a medium for me. If your mom is in my case with mediums and large, I'd go with a large.
