Canadian stores online? Xmas help needed!

Hi all,

I'm in need of some advice!  I am in charge of gifts for my inlaws (H's parents and brother & partner) - all in Canada.

I'm struggling not only with ideas, but with stores that ship to Canada! (Toronto and Mtl).

Any suggestions of great stores that I can shop online?

THANK YOU!

Re: Canadian stores online? Xmas help needed!

  • www.amazon.ca is really fast shipping and free shipping with orders over $39. I'm in Toronto and I think they have a warehouse here because I've ordered things Friday night and received them Monday morning (wowzers!!)

www.futureshop.ca is electronics and free shipping for most items (just not huge things like TVs, appliances, etc).

I only really have personal experience with those 2, but you can find lots on there. Good luck and happy shopping!!

  • If you don't like the selection at Future Shop (I don't) www.BestBuy.ca also ships (pretty quickly) in Canada.

Welcome to the bane of any Canadian shoppers existence.  Most US sites don't ship to Canada, or if they do, we get SLAMMED with customs fees.

  • What about buying each couple a museum membership for their local museum? ?You could easily do that online or over the phone.

  • Keep in mind with Amazon, com, you can only order books, CDs and DVDs in Canada.  It sucks :(

Canadian Tire usually has free shipping.

  • There is Sears too. And pretty much most of the Canadian clothing stores (but mostly womens stuff).
  • Oh and Chapters (www.chapters.ca) is another great one.
  • I'm not sure what kind of gifts you have in mind, but personalized and photo gifts (off of the walmart.ca photoshop website) will ship and have great prices, as do most of the other photo places like shutterfly, my publisher, etc. I haven't ordered anything online from Costco, but I've heard their shipping is quick and reasonable (sometimes free). Depending on what you are ordering, there are lots of smaller, non-chain store Canadian companies that offer reasonable or free shipping. For example (sort of a gag gift), I ordered my BIL and his family matching family footed one-piece pajamas (like a baby would wear) from www.snugasabug.com/ and the shipping was free for over $100 orders. Try searching for smaller Canadian companies based out of Toronto.
