3. When I was about 8, I was convinced I had taught my dog to read. He knew how to sit, shake, and roll over, in that order. So I made three signs that said "Sit", "Shake", and "Roll over", and held them up in that order, with a treat. Of course, he sat, shook, and rolled over. I should have gotten the Nobel Prize.
No effin' way! When I was 8, I was convinced that I'd taught my parakeet to do math! I'd write math problems on the chalkboard and then she'd blink or hop from perch to perch in her cage to give me the answer. She was brilliant.
My family still teases me about this.

haha, if anyone could teach an animal to read I bet it would be you. You could manipulate their brain functions somehow, you PhD candidate, you.
PS - I read this yesterday and I think it was a combination of this and the college roommate thread that inspired my dream last night. I was living in a house with a bunch of roommates, and I came home one day after to work to discover that you, my roommate, had forgotten to put your bird up. (D@MN YOU, ZEE!) and it had pooped everywhere. We were pissed, and probably filed the information away to post on a "crazy college roommates" thread in the future.
