So my crack staff have dug themselves in further. Tech 1 (who was a supervisor) deleted the radiograph files from the other day. This is not only a direct hospital policy violation, but altering medical records is against the law.
I spent most of my morning yesterday working to recover these files from our backup. Luckily our system records every keystroke in a security file so I can prove who did this and at what time.
I want to fire Tech 1, since it can be proven that he deleted medical record. Tech 2 I can only legally suspend and place on probation.
My stupid boss wants me to just suspend Tech 1 and place him on probation as well!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the freaking heck?!?!?!? The guy thinks rules don't apply to him, which makes him a liability . . .. FUUUUUUUUUUUU**********************KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.
I am so glad my babysitter just told me her husband got a promotion and they are moving to Colorado . . . I may just stay home after all.
Re: I work with morons
Wow, that seems, well, illegal to not fire Tech 1 after everything that happened. I'm surprised your boss isn't looking at the big picture of how this could affect him directly or the office. Seems like a very bad idea
I vote stay home!
How flippin' annoying and illegal. I wish you could just fire them both and be done with it!
Stay at home lady!! Every day that my employees call me makes me inch that much closer to making the same decision. Or at least finding a nice little fluffy job where I'm not responsible for much.
Ditto! That's just crazy!
I vote for staying home!
I've worked with people like that before. They eventually get fired so what's the point of giving them second chances? It's ridiculous.
Speaking of CYA...
I think this deserves a dated formal memo on company letterhead or via company email that states what you think should happen and why for the record.
That way when the office gets sued and there are licensing and insurance issues to face, you can say..."Hey, look, that's what I recommended, but he ignored me." Sometimes they can hold you severally and individually responsible, depending on the business type.
So CYA is right.
