To the Mid Western and East Coast Girls...
I have NO idea how you do it. It was 38 here this morning and I was so cold I couldn't wash my hair in the shower. My commute is not that far, so my car doesnt really have a chance to heat up by the time I get to work and I thought I would die!!! How do you get out of bed in the morning where you live??
Re: To the Mid Western and East Coast Girls...
Oh sweetheart, 38 is considered warm here, that's ain't nothin'. It was 36 this morning when I left for work and I thought it was pretty nice out, for December. I was expecting to go out to start my car (I usually do in the cold so my car is toasty when I get it in) but after I walked out I thought to myself "Hell, I don't really need to start it, it ain't that bad out!"
And I do sometimes wash my hair in the morning.
OMG Dani, ME TO! I was thinking I was glad that pup had surgery because he cant go on walks for a week, so I was like scoooooore can snuggle in blankets with him instead of going into the cold! LOL
I seriosly cant live in the cold. BUT I cant deal with these sumemrs either.
All I can say is I LOVE LOVE LOVE:
-my remote start-for the car-(Yes, call me lazy)
-an electric blanket
and that DH gets up before me, so it's not too too bad!
and a warm blow dryer helps with am hair washings, too!
low 40's, high 30's aren't too too bad-just wind chill! It'll be colder this eve and tomorrow-which I'm NOT looking forward to.
Layers are our friends
although I don't have it as bad as some... Sheri and mid-westerners...
It's been in the high-20s/low-30s when I leave for work this week. That's really not that bad IMO. I was out running errands just now and it's 40 out, and I loved it, I thought it felt so nice.
I'm an odd one out though and by far prefer cold weather over hot any day. It's always easier to make myself comfortable when it's cold by layering or being in the blanket. But, if I'm hot, it doesn't matter what I do, I will still be hot, sticky, uncomfortable, and miserable.
I'm pretty good with the cold, but I have no blood. I'm a little underweight and I really wish I could gain 10-15 lbs because I swear, I have no feeling in my limbs from December - April. I'm used to it now so it doesn't really bother me but everytime I touch someone they jump 16 feet in the air. J doesn't know how I function.
38 is not too bad for me. When it gets in the teen's and twenty's with crazy NYC winds - brrrrrrrr.
And yes - electric blankets are my friend!
Like the other girls said, 38 is a nice temperature this time of year. When I lived in PA, I was used to frostbite warnings. My last year of college, the local news would warn students not to walk to class or to be extra bundled bc just being out in the weather could cause frostbite. In high school, class would get cancelled somedays bc it was sooo cold in the morning.
Now being in SC, it's a releif that 38 is our low =D.
See ladies, you are proving my point, I would DIE!!!
But yes Agent, we do have brutal summers.
I would seriously die in your summers, so it works both ways. I'm miserable in the heat. I have no internal cooling system - I refuse to wear anything but sun dresses with no bra in the summer.
uhh I hate you right now.....;) I got pegged in the ear with one of those rock hard snowflakes walking out of school and I'm pretty sure I lost my eardrum in that battle.
Currently I can't make out the tree that is 15 feet from my bedroom window because of the snow and wind.
It's been in the 50s today... It was in the low 30s on Tuesday when we left for work! I feel your pain Dani, we would die too in colder weather!! When I visit my sister in MT, I usually go in the winter and the last time I was there, it got down to -16!! Talk about COLD!
It's 50 here in LA. I'm totally wussed out and dressed for snow. Wool Coat. Thick knitted scarf. Isotoners. I don't do cold.
When I was little, we lived in Lake Tahoe...so I have SOME snow wisdom...but the tolerance has totally worn off.
I've been enjoying fires in our wood-burning fireplace!
