Poll - Lock doors

If you have/have had a door into your house from your garage do you lock the door?[Poll]

Re: Poll - Lock doors

  • i voted all the time, but we don't have one - it's just what people i know do
  • My answer is something else... SOMETIMES...

I would say it's good practice to lock all the time... but I use that door only to put garbage/recycle in the bins in the garage, and it's a pain in the butt to unlock it when my hands are full, so I leave it unlocked. But DH locks it. If we are going on vacation I definitely lock it.

  • Did you watch Criminal Minds last night....this was how the murderer got into the houses!!

Eekk.. thanks for freaking me out.... I will be locking the door when I get home. Hopefully there are no spooky noises tonight!!
  • We have a door from the inside of the garage into the house, but you can't get into our garage without the garage door openers, which are in our cars, which are usually in the garage, so i'm not worried about it.  When we go away, we do lock the inside door, but that's it.

I voted only when we're not home...WE don't have a door connecting to the inside - ours opens to the veranda right by our front door. But my parents have a inside one and like AMC1616 said only get in by the garage door opener, which are in the cars - in the garage. Vacation time everything gets locked & sliding doors/windows get a 'blocker' put in place.

  • My vote is "sometimes" too. You can only get into our garage with a garage door opener, and we also have a key pad on the outside. There are times we leave the house and the door inside that leads to the garage is unlocked, but other times we lock it. I'm not really concerned with the area we live in, but for the most part we do keep the doors locked.
  • I voted... But we only have a carport.  But, I think we usually only lock that door when we're not home and sometimes not then.  I live in a small town though.

  • like some of the others have said, you can't get into our garage without the code. When we are home and awake, it's unlocked. But when we go to bed, we always lock it.

You can easily hear the garage door when it opens, so I hear it during the day when DH comes home for lunch and after work, so I'd be aware if someone was in the garage.

    Scary episode of CM though!

  • I put all the time cause it's so automatic for us to do this.

  • I have yet to watch the criminal minds episode but I would think that even though the garage door can only be opened by keypad or the openers in the car that someone can still get into your garage.
  • I said all the time, but really it's sometimes. We try and keep it locked, but don't always remember. Definitely locked if we're out or in bed, but during the day we're pretty casual about it - same with locking the car in the driveway if we're going out again shortly. But, we live in relatively small subdivision in a pretty small town. I would like to know how to reprogram our keypad to get into the garage though.
  • My parents have one and it is ALWAYS locked. There are people who can get in your garage and go through the door. It's a safe habit and one I am definitely used too.

  • I voted all the time...Really only because our door blows open if we dont lock it.
