Suggestions needed!!

I've been in a reading mood lately and am in desperate need of new material.

Suggest your favorite books please!! :)

Re: Suggestions needed!!

  • The Shadow of the Wind. Sounds boring, but I'm reading it right now and it is SOOO good! Just a great all around story with drama, mystery, romance, murder, and other excitement!

  • I just finished the boy in striped pajamas.  It's a good book but definitely not a feel good book.
  • Do you use goodreads.com?  I find it to be helpful when I am looking for something new....
  • I am soooo struggling reading a Kay Scarpetta series book! ugh.  And it's like thisthick!...  (and goodreads helps, too!)

Recommendations... (I like historical fiction and suspense)

Lisa See-Snowflower and the secret fan

Kate Jacobs-The Friday Night Knitter's Club-get out the tissues!

Amy Tan-love any of her books!

***Pam Jenoff*** wrote 2 books that go 'together' that I really enjoyed:  The Kommendant's Girl, The DIplomat's Wife... I want to read MORE from her...

  • The Last Lecture. It's a great book and is really inspiring. Whenever I'm down, I pick it up and read a chapter (which is 5min. max) to lift my spirits.
  • Ok, if you're into non-ficiton, I just finished "Bright-sided: How the Relentless Promotion of Positive Thinking Has Undermined America". It was an excellent read and it's really not about bashing positive thinking. It's about how blind wishing your dreams will come true without regard for fact or reality is really stupid and has gotten America into a lot of trouble.

Right now I'm reading "Assassination Vacation" by Sarah Vowell. It's fantastic.

For fiction, my husband and I have been into Haruki Murakami books lately. And my favorite book pretty much ever is "Evidence of Things Unseen" by Marianne Wiggens. It's so good it made my normally stoic husband cry on the subway.
