Dead boards

Is anyone else having little to no traffic on their board?  The etiquette board has just been unusually dead this week, even the regs aren't posting.  I just wonder if it's all across the boards or just us.  It's so boring!

Re: Dead boards

  • My board has been slow the past few months from so many people getting married and moving over to the nest.

I think in January it'll pick up again with all the Christmas and New Years engagements.

  • Mine has dropped off significantly since the change over.    I hope the Christmas New Year engagements will give us a boost again.

  • Ours has been pretty slow but I don't know if it is because of the change over or people just being really busy with the Holidays. I know a few posts have come across from our girls about wedding burn out - so that may be contributing a bit too.
  • I really hope it picks back up because it's been pretty boring!

  • Yeah kinda. I don't know either...I know it is the holiday season...but I know some girls have not come on as much since the change!

  • I would bet the holidays have a lot to do with it.

R&G is usually slow but was busier than normal last week.  Now it's dead again.  Go figure.

After the holidays I'm sure there will be an influx of newly engaged people, so that might pick things up a bit.

  • My board's deadness is due to the super slowness since the changeover.  The latest fix still hasn't been improvement enough for us to venture back.  We've been getting more and more people from other knot boards popping into our temporary home on the Nest, so I suspect people are trying to find another place to spend their days since the Knot is so damn slow.

  • Mine is dead some days and busy on others.  Overall down though - I polled my board and asked them about this last week.

  • Both of my locals are dead.  Like, 1 - 2 post per week dead.  I know most of the regs have an offboard, and I'm thinking with the format change they've abandoned TK.

  • Mine has been dead since the changeover. They all hate how slow it is and hardly post anymore.
  • Mine has been pretty dead since the change.
  • Mine was dead to begin with, but had definitely become worse lately, although I can't say for sure it's because of the changeover.

I posted a "who is still here?" roll call on Tuesday, and as of now, have only 13 posts!  Some have mentioned being busy with school/work/holidays, but I suspect we lost many during the switch.  Sad  It's painfully dead in Maine.

I've initiated the 5 most recent posts - and that's all the traffic the board has had in a week!

  • A bunch of the regulars on my board have said that they just don't bother coming over to TK anymore since the change and the slowness. I really hope that the fixes put in today bring some of them back.
  • I found the same thing happened last year. The stretch b/wn American Thanksgiving and Christmas is usually a dead one.
  • My board has been very dead as of late.  All we get are "drive by" vendor rec inquiries.  But since the change it has been a ghost town - the few regulars we had left all basically said this was the encouragement they needed to move on, and they won't be coming back. We average one new topic a day....

    :-(

I tried a Roll Call post as well and it's taken over a week to get 26 replies.  Which is so sad, because when I was planning our board had 2-3 pages of new posts per day!! It hasn't been that busy in a while, but lately it's been painfully slow.

  • Agreed, Cincy is dead.  I remember last year, and it wasn't this slow.  Everyone says it's too slow.

  • We definitely always have a traffic drop during this time and I think that coupled with the new format is making it a bit slower.

As lots of mods in this post have said, it's a good time to encourage lurkers to come out, post thought provoking discussions or polls you know most brides will want to answer.

  • The Central Florida board had a bunch of girls frustrated with the combination of no emailed replies and board slowness. They said they were done with the boards. It makes me sad, because we had a VERY active local before the switch.
  • My boards were pretty dead before the new board change, and then they were merged and a new board was created.  So, was this ever a tough time to convince people to come to a new board!

I'm trying to give the few regulars we have some encouragement and keep them entertained.

I have a good feeling that things will turn around soon.  I've seen things pick up just a little over the past couple weeks. :)
