Should have waited to get my tree

My mom called and told me to get our tree when we were down in CT this weekend because the big trees are only $26 at the place she went (and she got a little one for $12!). I was so bummed to tell her we already go ours and now I feel like I got really ripped off...

Did you guys get good deals?

    No, ours was $50.

  • $50 at Durkee.  My brother paid $86 for his!  It is 9 feet, but still that is craziness.

  • We just get ours from Lowe's or Home Depot because they always seem to have the best prices.  We spent $35 I think.  Lowe's actually had them for just $20 for several days after Thanksgiving.

But then you don't get to cut it down!

I think we got a great deal, as I advertised in my tree PSA. $39 for a cut your own 6 1/2 footer.

Yeah, I'm OK with that.  For me the only benefit in cutting it down myself is that I get to see the shape of the tree better beforehand, but I'd rather have the price discount.  That and sometimes it's tough to get DH to find the time to do this as it is, never mind the added time to cut down if we went that route.

  • We got ours for 25. It's about 7 feet. But I think we were lucky because it was this little local place that only had about 20 trees.

We got ours at Durkee too.

  • $86 is crazy!!!

I think we usually pay $40-$50 for ours at a cut your own place.  We didn't get one this year because we are moving in January and I don't want to have to pack up all of the tree stuff in addition to the rest of our junk.

  • We got a good deal! After stopping at 3 local places that were charging 50 bucks for a tree about my height, we went to Lowe's and got a 6.5 foot one for 22 dollars!
  • We paid $65- but I don't mind.  We cut ours down from a local tree farm, and personally I don't mind paying a little extra to buy from a small local farm.
  • we're going to the same place we got ours last year today... I think we paid between $40-50 for ours and it lasted well into January with minimal care...
