Sad to see Brian Kelly go...
So I know its a great thing for him but my DH is a bearcat and we've been going to f-ball games forever (even when they sucked) to see the possibility of the good times ending- I just am saddened about it...that and we are going to the Sugar Bowl- I know Florida is a HARD team and to not even have their coach with them--- double sucks.
Kay- Vent over.
Re: Sad to see Brian Kelly go...
I know what you mean. It was great while it lasted, but dang. Right before the biggest game UC has ever played? Come on.

I'm kind of sad, but happy for him since it seems like a great opportunity for him. I hope he does good things (but not too good, since I'm not an ND fan)
But the overall issue really pisses me off. How can you take a coach, or leave when you're team's going to a bowl game?!? I'm a big Michigan fan, and Rich Rodriguez came to Michigan the same way - and I have so say a little of my respect diminished, whether it was his fault or not, with how he left his team.... I'm just saying....
My husband is a Notre Dame grad and he said he had no less than 5 people threaten him bodily harm at work today
And I went to MSU, which is where Mark Dantonio went...at least my household is out of schools that can offer jobs to UC coaches!
Seriously, UC is on a great path- Mrs.Matt is right- the program should keep being successful...
I'm bitter.
Did you see the interview with Mardy last night? LOVE HIM!

I heard part of it this morning. He's awesome!
I was really hoping he would stick it out and coach the bowl game... I am sure if it was the national championship game, he would have stayed to atleast coach....
If he's leaving to go to another school then he shouldn't get the priviledge of coaching this team in a bowl game. He isn't their coach anymore, so why should he get to coach the Sugar Bowl? If he wanted to coach these kids then he would have stayed.
Is it going to be successful? We're still playing with Dantonio's players. Part of me wonders what type of recruiter Brian Kelly is since we haven't seen his kids in the spotlight yet.
Exactly. Why let him have the opportunity to coach a major bowl game? Screw him, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.

Collaros is a Kelly recruit and I think he's a good player. We'll just have to wait and see how the other Kelly recruits play.
He is a good player and he does well with this team. It will be interesting to see what happens next year...and who we get to coach. I have heard rumors of possibly getting the Boise State coach or the Houston coach. Both are in bowl games, I think. I would hate for those kids to lose their coach before their bowl games, but at the same time, I would like for the new head coach to be in place before we head south.
I completely agree...if this was the BCS National Championship he would stick around to coach the game.
On a positive, and under reported note, I'm thrilled about Louise Nippert giving $85million to music arts. This is virtually unheard of nowadays. Five years from now Brian Kelly will be a fuzzy memory like Thad Matta and Sean Miller, but this gift is a present that will keep on giving.
Now THAT is awesome!!!!
