They are taxing everything which is going to cause big big problems. I work for a medical device company.... They are talking about a 20 Billion dollar tax on medical device companies, pharmaceutical companies have something similar. In addition, there is going to be incredible pressure to reduce prices when a Medicare like system is paying the bills. Whats going to happen is that millions of people are going to lose jobs and companies are not going to have money to do R&D and innovate to create new products. Pretty much the worst decision ever.
Hahaha Angel, I love you. I seriously was about to flip out at that post. The only reason why I knew about it was bc Mames said something to me about it. I NEVERRRR go over to the F&B board.
Red Daisy, I am curious as to why you think it's wrong to tax medical devices and why you think that the medical device industry is going to get killed if such a tax is put in place. (I obviously don't have any knowledge about how the system works, but I am genuinely curious). If pharma industry gets the same tax, yet still has the money to do all sorts of R&D, why do you think that it's going to be any different for the medical device industry. I don't know about anyone else here, but looking at the big picture, I would lump pharma and medical devices in the same overall category (meaning they should probably be taxed the same).
Like I said above, I know nothing about it so I am probably 100% wrong, but it just doesn't make sense to me as to why MD would suffer yet, pharma hasn't.
