We went to MILs house and had a big, traditional dinner (~3pm). DH said he had a "marriage moment" while at Rite Aid looking for some hardware for a last-minute TV mounting job his mom needed help with. He said he started crying in the store because he realized that he is married and his life is so real and moving so fast right now.
He finally finished his PhD (after 7 years) and is starting his post-doctoral research position (like a 1 year apprenticeship) which will lead to his ultimate career goal of becoming a professor. But we're still living on small monthly stipends from the universities and we have to live in two different cities so I can finish my degree at UC Riverside while he post-docs at UC San Diego. Talk about expenses. We can't even consider homeownership or starting a family yet.
Things are looking good for us as we approach the end of 2009, since we survived the process of finishing DH's dissertation and awaited offers of employment after months of interviews and waiting. I used that stressful time to get a handle on my fitness again and lost 40 lbs. The holidays can be such a stressful time for families but I feel so THANKFUL that we are still together and going strong as a married couple.
Here's to all of us March 2008 brides spending our second Thanksgiving as married women. How does it feel for you?
Re: How was everyone's Thanksgiving?
Ours was very good! Busy running around like normal. Hope everyone had a great time!
