water softener help

Not sure if anyone can help me but I thought I'd give it a try. My water softener hasn't been working for months. My DH says he's going to fix it but he can't figure out what's wrong with it and never finds the time to call their customer service... I am sick of having residue all over my dishes!! :)

It is no longer under warranty since we are not the original owners and apparently the customer service department is awful to deal with. I'll still try to contact them myself but I was wondering ... does anyone know of a company that services water softeners and charges a fair amount? TIA!

Re: water softener help

  • Sorry I don't have any recommendations but where did you go to HS? You look really familiar.
  • Maybe a plumber/plumbing company?  Would you call a plumber to install it?  Otherwise call a company that puts them in (no idea who).   I know Sears will service just about anything even if you didn't buy it from them.  They probably use contractors and I'm not sure how good they are but maybe you could call them as a last resort.

  • My dh is a plumber and said that plumbers will install water softeners but not maintenance unless its water leaking or something like that--he said to try a general maintenance guy

  • I know this is no help.... but I feel like I have seen companies that do just this in the Reach magazine before. You can check them maybe? Either that or see where you buy them and ask if they have references for install/repair.
