Realtors?

DH and I are discussing purchasing a home at the end of our lease or shortly thereafter.  However, we really don't know where to start.  Do any of you have any recs for a good realtor?  What do you like about him/her?  It would be great if you've worked with someone who you really loved and could suggest but if you just know someone that would be a starting place, too. Any tips are appreciated.  :)

Thanks!

Re: Realtors?

  • I think there are a couple of nestie realtors, maybe they'll chime in?

My realtor was Lauren Powell.  I really liked that she listened to what I was looking for, and made suggestions accordingly. She was also very patient--I looked for a house for, oh, five months before finding the right one.  I asked her to send me a bunch of suggestions, and I would narrow them down, and then we would go out and look.  I'd never bought a home before, and she was great about walking me through the process and explaining things.

Another great realtor who two of my friends has used is Kevin Hutchinson.  They were also each first time home buyers who felt like he gave them a lot of attention.  One of them lives South now, and one of them is North.

One thing I'd recommend is interviewing more than one realtor before you decide.  That way, you can find someone who will be helpful but whose personality like as well.

If you want more info on Lauren or Kevin, feel free to PM me or email me:  guavagalmail at gmail.

  • I so agree with guavagirl! Definitely interview multipe folks and go with the person you connect with!

I really loved my realtor when we bought our home. His name is Forrest Higdon and he works for Keller Williams. He is actually in Joe Williams Team (the Williams in Keller Williams). Our lender and builder were VERY difficult to work with and Forrest as well as their office manager Cynthia were so awesome!!

You can email me at TxGolfGal@aol.com if you would like Forrest's information or his direct email is FHigdon@kw.com. My name is Kimberly Pevoto.

  • Hi, new to the Austin boards... crazily, I just recently discovered it!

We used Brian Martin as our realtor for both a lease and finally the purchase of our first home (closed last month!). He is absolutely amazing! We were referred by friends who had bought a house in Cedar Park and we knew whenever we were in the market for a house, we wouldn't use anybody else.

Brian works for Keller Williams and I can't say anything but positive things about him. Any time we contacted him, he would get back to us in minutes. He is hilarious, really knows his stuff, and definitely gives his clients 100% all the time. He's actually coming to our housewarming party next week... just another reason why we love him!

  • JoAnne McKinney and William Arnecke are great! They have great personalities and really know their stuff...work their tails off to get you what you want. They even keep in touch with you afterwards..which I think is so sweet. Bringing a pumpkin over for Halloween, bringing a Thanksgiving pie from Central Market, and hosting a customer appreciation party at Cedar Street Courtyard...were just some fo the nice gestures they offered after we bought our house.

  • I have used Christi and Collin Kendrick more than once.  Aside frrom being wonderful Realtors, they are just fun to be around... important if you are spending that much time with someone looking for houses.
They are a husband/wife team that have been in the business for a LONG time... definitely NOT rookies!  They are both from Austin and know the area.  They live and office in Cedar Park.
They are recommended in the Austin Nestie Bio, my father, grandmother and MrsMillerTime has also used them and befriended them.  Seriously, you will get more than just a perfect house and great deal from people who know their stuff, you will meet two of the most wonderful people.

ETA - W/ my grandmother's purchase we looked at over 100 houses b/c her needs were so specific... she is handicapped, and they were never impatient.  Always happy to help.  They handled our house purchase for us while we were living out of town and are always on top of everything.  We have never had any hang ups.  My father was very leary about his purchase and is generally very difficult to deal with.  Everything was seamless and they are so patient and understanding.

  • DH and I purchased our first house a little over a year ago. We were referred to her by a friend of ours and we were extremely happy with her services. We looked at over 50 houses and she loved every bit of it! She is not only patient and knowlegable, she is super friendly as well!  I highly recommend her! Hope that helps!
