would you be a little upset?
Ok, I found out MIL sent out one of those horrid xmas letters (that makes it seem like they're writing it in 3rd person). The problem is that she goes into GREAT detail about our lives, reveals where we work and specifics about it all. We had no idea this was going to happen, I feel slightly blindsighted and not very comfortable with things like that out there in case the letter gets lost or whatever. It outlines exactly where DH works and what he does and basically where to find him.
I'm just a little put off by the whole thing, would you be since you didn't know she was giving this info out to who knows? I just would've liked some warning. Oh and she spelled Isabelle's name wrong.

I would be upset! Why did she need to put so much detail? 99% of people don't care about all that detail in a Christmas letter.

Ugh. Not a good idea to include specifics. And I'd be REALLY mad she spelled her granddog's name wrong.
PFffffffffffffffff! Did David say anything to his mom about this? He needs to lay down the law with her about this.
Totally uncool on her part. I get the need to write Christmas biographies and informal stuff...but not cool when it's not your info to be shared. She should only share relevant info and not the specifics and breakdown of everything and everyone in her lives. Did you get in the mail about it? OR did you come across it somewhere else??? Tsk, tsk on MIL for this, she has no shame.
David just kind of shrugged it off. I don't know who she sent it to, but I REALLY don't feel comfortable in this day and age with info like that out there. It said that David works at XX school in XX and coaches XX sports and we live in XX town. Not really cool in my opinion, she could've put the town we live in and that david is teaching fine, but to go into ALL of that and WHERE it's at makes me nervous. She included my website which is fine, because I put it out there and it's public. I'm not worried about that.
My mom got one of the letters, we didn't....that's how I found out about it.
Honestly, the only part that would bother me is that she spelled Isabelle's name wrong (really, how hard can it be to make sure you're spelling a name right?).
In this day and age, if anyone really wanted to know where you live and where David works, they could probably find it without the assistance of a Christmas letter. As a teacher and coach, his job is pretty public, too. I'm sure he has had his name (and job) published with team stories.

I think I'm thinking more like Andrea. Yah, she shouldn't feel the need to go on and on about your lives. But I wouldn't be to worried. That kind of stuff is so public anymore anyway.
I wouldn't be happy about it either. But I know in NY, teacher's personal info (including our salaries, etc) are public information. Which is crazy but a whole other ball of wax.
I'm definitely not super pissed but I'm not exactly thrilled and happy about it. It really gives a lot of our information in a small amount of space making it easier to find us than if he was just listed in the newspaper (it doesn't give the town we live in, etc) and he doesnt get press because he's not a HS varsity head coach
