my dh is laughing at me because i just finished writing an email to gold's begging them to stop showing "Miss Congeniality" in their cardio cinema. i just can't take it anymore, and i had to do something!
i have seen this movie in its entirety -- albeit in bits and pieces -- about 12-15 times. i have left the cinema many times because they've popped it in the dvd player while i'm working out. i'm sure other people in there think i'm strange when they hear a loud groan and "really???" coming from one of the treadmills when the main menu comes up and i'm viewing sandra bullock standing in her pageant dress, crown, and gunbelt strapped to her thigh.
does gold's not own other movies? doesn't seem like it, but i know they do! i almost wept with joy when i went a couple of weeks ago and one of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies was playing.
but today was the last straw. i got there and saw about the last 3 minutes of "The Island". they started the movie over; not a big deal. i haven't seen this movie in a while. so there's scarlett johansen (sp) standing there in a white dress, the opening credits are playing, i've got 45 more minutes to go.
just as i'm settling in, ready for some ewan mcgregor, the screen goes blue and says, "Open". then, "Loading". then there's sandra bullock. THEY'RE SHOWING "MISS CONGENIALITY" AGAIN!!!! NOOOOO!!!!!!
if my email doesn't effect some change in the frequency with which they show that movie, i'm going to have to come up with a plot to steal gold's copy of the movie. maybe i'll ask to see it, wait until the person at the front desk is looking the other way, and switch out the dvd for something else. almost anything would be better. (except for any movie starring chris tucker and/or owen wilson or jackie chan or any of the meet the parents movies. they play those a lot, too.)
rant is now officially ended. thank you.

Re: i've had to write an email to gold's gym *kind of long*
Have you asked the front desk people to change it? DH used to manage the one in Plano and the movies they had were just whatever DVDs the associates would bring from home. Gold's didn't have anything to do with what was being played (they didn't have any movies that the gym owned.) You could probably even bring your own as long as it's not rated R.
Good luck!
i know!!! we have HBO, too, and i just can't get away from it! at least at home, i can choose the channel.
yesterday, i almost did. i went up to the front desk, but the lady was helping someone else, and i chickened out and left because i kind of felt stupid. so i wrote an anonymous email, which, of course, is not chicken at all!
you're awesome. cedar park; the one at 1890 ranch shopping area. tell me when you're going and i'll meet you at the front desk and back you up with a couple of "dat's right"s and "um-hum!"s.
