Things to Bake

So a friend of mine has a family tradition of baking a ton of different stuff around the holidays.

Well I am participating in it next weekend and I want to bring a fun recipe...  I know you ladies have some of the best baking recipes.

Thanks ladies!!

Re: Things to Bake

  • Here are my fav Christmas cookies:

peanut butter blossoms (recipe on back of hershey kiss package, usually)

wedding cookies (also called pecan crescents and multiple other names)

sugar cookies (recipe in my blog - if you make it, use 1/2 cup crisco and 1/2 cup margarine rather than 1 cup butter or maragarine)

mint chocolate brownies (I can email you the recipe if you want it.  Super easy, super good, and people will rave about them.)

anything dipped in chocolate - pretzels, nuts, oreos, ritz cracker/peanut butter sandwiches

    Lilypie Third Birthday tickers
  • Pumpkin Roll-I hope to do a few this eve to freeze!

    Pumpking Cheesecake-yum!

    Snickerdoodle cupcakes

Cookies-buckeyes (peanut butter& sugar balls dipped in chocolate), sour cream cookies, Wreaths-similar to rice crispie treats, but with cornflakes, red hots, green food coloring, press cookies, cutouts, choc chips/oatmeal raisin cookies.

the brownies that flip flops says-they sound great!

big pretzel sticks w choc drizzled over them... Agreed there, too!

  • My favorite christmas pie is pineapple custard mmmm! It's more or less pumpkin pie, but with pineapple. So light & something other than chocolate or peanut butter.

I also love fruit pizza anytime (sugar cookie crust, cream cheese).

    And of course peanut blossoms!

  • My favorite cookies for this time of year are classic chocolate chip, raspberry almond thumbprints, and egg nog cookies.

Any desserts with the flavors of the season are great-- peppermint, cranberry, or pumpkin to name a few.

Also, I agree with the pps suggestion of things dipped in chocolate--super easy to do and easy to make festive (little sprinkles, candies, etc. you can add to top the chocolate; ribbons and wrapping for the holidays).

  • I don't really have anything to add, except that I made an awesome carrot cake yesterday, so yummy! But I guess it's not really for the season...

    YAY!  Thanks!
  • Thanks for this thread - I'm trying to decide what desserts to bring to Iowa.  MIL is making Christmas dinner, and then Saturday everyone is coming over to our hotel.  I'm thinking lots of cookies, brownies, fudge, peppermint bark, etc, might be my best bet.  I was going to make another peppermint cheesecake, but I'm not sure how well that will travel.
