That One Gift...

Every year there is at least 1 gift that just cannot wait to give to the person.  I know they are gonna love it and totally not expecting it.  Do you have one this year?  Who is it for?

This year it's for DH.  When we were looking at toys online for my nephews, he said he wanted to get them these Nerf Dart Guns that my sister will totally hate us for getting (hehehe).  He said something like, I wish they had these things out when I was a kid - these are great!  So, what did I do when I went to Target to finish shopping for my nephews?  Picked one up for DH too!  I can't wait to give it to him.  He's gonna love it!

  • I have a few.  I had a fellow Nestie custom make two bracelets for my Mom & Grandma and I am making a photo album for my Grandma from the wedding.  Hopefully the prints arrive in time, nothing like waiting until the last second =x

I'm excited to get my Coach bag that I picked out ;D

  • Mine is also for H.

I feel so bad his truck is too long to fit in the garage and he has to get up at 4:30 for work.  I got him a remote car starter.

He has to work on Christmas Eve getting off on Christmas morning, so I told him I need to borrow his truck Christmas Eve to pick some things up for Christmas dinner.  I am having it installed Christmas Eve so it will be all ready to go when he opens it up Christmas morning!!

  • DH put a remote start in my car a few months back knowing winter was coming (he'd promised one to me when I got my new car in June but we waited until early November).  He saw how great mine was that a few weeks ago he had one put in his car!  He uses his more than I do (and I use mine all the time).  Good idea Chrissy!

Thanks!  I am really excited because he has no idea and it works out perfectly that he has to work on Christmas Eve so I can have it installed without spoiling the surprise of him opening it up on Christmas.

  • I have a few.  My mom really likes The Office and my dad really likes playing games (my mom also likes games and my dad also likes The Office) so I?m getting them the Clue: The Office edition.

My younger sister is obsessed with hooded sweatshirts and has started to become a big fan of the Huskers.  She came over to my house to watch some games so it?s been a fun bonding experience.  I?m getting her a Nebraska hooded sweatshirt.

  • Friend- One of my best friends is getting married in January. I got her a beach bag that has her married initials on it so she can take it to the honeymoon in Antigua.

DH's grandma- DH and I, his sister, and his brother and SIL all out out money together and got their grandma a new computer. It's a combination of Christmas and a thank you. She helped DH and his siblings with all of their dad's finances and everything else after their dad passed away. She just took over without even being asked so that none of us would have to keep track of anything while we have our healing time.

Sister- Earlier in the year, my sister saw a pewter pacifier holder in the shape of a fleur-de-lis. She said that whenever she had a baby she wanted me to get it for her. She said this months before she was pregnant. I finally found it, and I can't wait to give it to her.

  • This year it's our gift to the kids. We adopted a black lab/ golden retriever mix we're naming Gauge from a rescue ( see pic in Siggy) We're picking him up on the 19th, so he's an early gift, but I know they'll be so excited about it!!

I've never heard of this! How awesome! I think I'm going to have to get that sometime.

Anyhow, we're trying to keep our expenses down, so unfortunately gifts this year aren't all that exciting. I'm hoping that next Christmas I can get H an iPod Touch, because his iPod is a little old and I think he would really like the Touch.

  • We don't really have any exciting gifts this year either.  We also are trying to be really budget friendly.  With our house and the wedding and everything else our finances really took a beating this year.  I ordered MH a lot of little stocking stuffers from his favorite woodworking catalog so I think he will like those.  I also bought my sister some new boots which she asked for and I know she will like.

  • There's a few I'm excited about--I got DH a new watch that he'll love, and a purse for my sister that I'll think she'll love so I'm looking forward to giving those.
Also, I made photo books for MIL and my parents of wedding pictures--they'll be surprised by those I think, and we went in with my sister to get my parents the new Mario Wii game--my stepdad will be especially happy about that one!
  • My niece, who was my MOH, asked for an IPOD Touch and I told her absolutely not.  I made a big fuss saying that it's ridiculously expensive and to dream on-lol.  Well, she doesn't think she's getting it, but she is.  Mike picked it up while out shopping for me this past weekend.  It will be the very last thing she opens and I think I'm going to wrap it in several big boxes until she gets to the little one.
