Are you a scrapbooker or card maker? You could put together a basket with some cards you made - an assortment of birthday, thank you, get well, Holidays, etc.
Here's a few other ideas: spa items, books, kitchen/cooking
A girly girl theme: Gossip magazines, nail polish, lip gloss, a small hand mirror, and some chocolates. And maybe a cheap robe or cute slippers if you can find some to fit your budget.
Voila!
I've got more issues than a magazine
Chocolate and wine.
If they like to drink, get them a fun martini glass with some alcohol (mini bottles) to make martinis with.

See here.I love this idea.
I like book ones too.
How about a game basket- Skipbo is about 5.00 and then some chips, snacks, candy for a game night.
Do you know what hair products they use? I made my sister a hair care one last year with hairspray, shampoo, conditioner, mousse, hair ties, and a brush. She loved it because she didn't have to buy stuff she normally would.
Love the game basket idea! That would be awesome for a family rather than a movie basket.
