gift baskets?

DH and I went to the farmer's market tonight and got a bunch of homemade marinades, and jelly, and cheeses, and all sorts of goodies for his parents and mine for xmas. (See prior post, no one needs anything, and I thought this would be a cute idea).

Anyways... anyone know where I can get baskets for cheap? I checked walmart and big lots and I didn't see anything I liked... has anyone seen anything out there in the world of xmas shopping???

Re: gift baskets?

  • It seems like the baskets at Michael's and Hobby Lobby are always on sale.  Have you tried those?  What about reusable grocery bags instead?  That's what we're gifting--those and produce bags.  Maybe the presentation won't be as nice but it spreads a great message and stops excuses.  Just a thought...I'll stop now.

  • All I can think of is Joann Fabrics.  I don't know if they have those by you, but it's a fabric craft store.
  • You ladies are amazing! I'll check those out.

Munkii - FILs company just made those reusable shopping bags as part of their marketing campaign. While you had a good idea, I don't think anyone needs any more of those... they're all over the place! lol

  • Hobby Lobby has a big selection of baskets. Also, in their party/gift wrap section they sell colored shredded crinkly paper and colored cellophane. You can use the paper as a cusion in between your items, and then you can wrap the whole basket up in cellophane with a bow and it looks really pretty. I did this for DH's parents the first year we were together when I had no idea what to get them. They thought it was awesome.
  • I second (or third) HobLob or Micheals. Our Joanns is small compared to the other two, but they do have a nice basket selection.

I just checked and baskets are 50% off at HobLob right now, and there is a 40% off one regularly priced item coupon you can print off in case you want to get a filler or something for them that isn't on sale.

  • If you have a World Market around you, they always have aisles of baskets.

This is true.  Definitely check them out if they're in your area.

  • Speaking of World Market, I am on their website looking for a sale item they emailed me and it's in-store only, guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.  I digress.  Anyway, they just chatted me and offered me a coupon code for 20% off online today (including their online baskets).  Maybe you'll get lucky too!
