catering food at work - help!

Where can I find some good (warm) meat, like turkey, ham etc.... for a platter?

My co-workers want to do some kind of potluck, and have everyone bring in a side, but we would actually get the meat from somewhere else. We wanted warm food. That sounds silly, but I called honey baked ham and they only offer their meat cold. It's possible for us to heat it up, but it would be a lot easier if it came that way.

Any suggestions? TIA!
Kat

  • Kroger does catering.
  • It isn't close by, but there is a Meat store in Eastgate that caters (perhaps there is one closer). At the end of Gleneste-Withamsville (near Meijer), it dead ends into a shopping plaza and there is a meat store/butcher there and they catered for us one time with bbq. It was great.

  • I'll add to Katie's response-the butcher/grocery store might have chafing dishes they'll rent to you or you can buy cheapie disposable ones at party stores.  You light the sterno, put water in the bottom pan, put the top pan on that, cover, and let everything heat up.  It helps to have gravy or sauce on the food otherwise it might dry out too much.  Most of the catering companies that do weddings should be able to bring the food and the chafing dishes.  Kroger does have their own catering company but I can't remember the name.

  • Iwould try the folks down at findley - I think Eckerlin's does that. I know I have heard them saying they were catering before. I would try that first. Chefs Choice is Krogers Catering company, but they also do deli items in store.

  • Kroger = Chef's choice catering (I think).

Vondehaar's in Reading does catering and I believe they do hot dishes as well as cold.

  • our office has done a full on Christmas dinner the last few years and we just order it ahead from Kroger or Bob Evans (we have done both) and pick it up right before the lunch.... Both were good, Bob Evans in my opinion was better!

I know we got EVERYTHING... turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, rolls, corn, green beans etc... plus pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread I believe and it was pretty reasonably priced!

  • Maybe call Boston Market or Kroger...
  • I think we've decided on Krogers. It's the closest, and relatively cheapest. Thanks ladies!

  • I've had Vondehaars at a wedding, baptism, and a 50th anniversary.  The service & presentation was good but it was inferior quality food IMO.
