BOTB: When does it stop?

With this pregnancy I've been tired but in the last few days I have been overly EXHAUSTED. I get plenty of sleep, wake up feeling great, get to work and want to take a nap. Since I can't have caffeine, please give me some advice. Does it stop as soon as the 1st tri is over (which is 5 days away!)?

Re: BOTB: When does it stop?

  • It does for most people. My doctor said give it until 14 weeks. The end of the first tri was the absolute worst for me. Just hang in there for a little longer and it gets better!

How are you feeling besides the exhaustion? Any other symptoms?

  • I feel fine otherwise, just so exhausted I can't stand it.

  • 2nd tri is MUCH better as far as exhaustion goes.  I didn't find mine went away overnight like other girls have claimed but I did find that I gradually started feeling better over a few days.

I hope it goes away quickly for you!

  • I totally feel your pain. I would sleep for 12 hours straight at night, then wake up and feel too exhausted to even get dressed.

Looking back, I really wish that I would have taken a day off now and then just to rest. It's the one thing I would do differently if I had it to do over. Is that an option for you?

negative, since I just started this job. I also am trying to be conservative with my time off since I will want to take some off this summer. I am seriously considering cancelling our Christmas plans though becuase I need some time to rest and recoup, but I'm afraid of doing that, because I will regret it later.

  • Ditto Shoe. I heard stories of the miraculous overnight relief, but I didn't get to experience it.

MT, I hope you are feeling better by Christmas, so you don't have to decide. Listen to your body. Your peeps will understand.

  • Mine lasted what felt like forever, I was tired from about 6 weeks-14/15 weeks. After that though it has not been that bad. I was totally exhausted before in the first tri. I would get home from work fall asleep about 4, sleep for 4 hours, wake up shower eat, do a little stuff for work, and fall back asleep by 9:30, and sleep all night. On the weekends I would literally want to sleep all.day.long. I'm so glad it's over because it was really ridiculous.
