Right now we have State Farm. I can't really say if I am happy or not we have never had a claim. We switched b/c they offered us a bit better of a car insurance premium but I think our home owners went up quite a bit so in hindsight it was probably not the right move.
We have a 100, 000 value home or used to be valued at this. We pya $613 a year and have a $1000 deductable, if we were to raise our deductable to $3000 it would only save us $30 a year.
We have a 2009 corolla with a $250 deductable pay $330 every 6 months, and a 2005 Hyundai elantra and pay $315 every 6 months with a $250 deductable. If wer raise our deductabls it would only save us $16 total a year.
Re: Who is your insurance company? Costs
I am not sure what we pay per item but I know we pay $180/month for everything. Our homeowners policy has a $500 deductible and it's valued at $140,000 plus I have a jewelry rider for my rings valued at $8,000
Our cars have a $250.00 deductible for a 2005 Explorer Sport Trac, and my MIL's 2005 Ford Escape until we sell it. My car is insured through DH's work so it's not included on our policy. We deal with Nationwide, but I think I am going to start shopping after the first of the year just to check around, I figure it never hurts to check! I do have to say that when the 'hurricane' blew through last year and ripped the roof off they were really good about taking care of everything quickly.
State Farm. We have had a major homeowner's claim courtesy of Ike (new roof) and a major auto claim ($7k of damage against our policy. car meets guardrail in the rain.). Both were WELL handled with little inconvenience. My agent is really nice and gets things done. (When I got my first car policy, I was too busy to get to his office so he drove from Blue Ash to Downtown to bring me the paperwork.) Premiums did go up for us after both claims, but it's worth it to me to have a good agent and know our claims will be handled quickly. This is one area where I will splurge for good customer service.
Home: $1k deductible. $670 twice-a-year (Based on replacement value of $212k).
My car - $500 deductible. '06 Fusion = $74/m (went up from $49.50 as I lost my 5-yr accident free discount. I also have double the medical coverage on my policy since that's where costs mount for most claims).
Husband's car = $500 deductible. $160 twice-a-year. (Liability only - it's a CLUNKER.) Husband's motorcycle = $500 deductible. $200/yr but we only cover it for 6 months out of the year.
We also have a jewelry policy for my engagement ring which the rate on is $10/per $1k of coverage. No deductible.
