When to make cookies?

I am making cookies and fudge for my employees.  I need to have them ready for Monday.   Could I make any of it now or should I wait until the weekend?  I'm making fudge, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter kisses, chocolate crinkle, and chocolate covered pretzel rods.

I'd like to get much of it down before the weekend if possible.   Think it would be ok to bake tomorrow and Thursday nights?

Re: When to make cookies?

  • I made my cookies tonight. I just put them in a tuperware container to keep them moist longer.

  • They should be ok, as long as you keep them in an airtight container to keep them fresh. ?I'll be baking starting Saturday night to give for Tues or Wed, and I'm not too concerned.?
  • We started baking at the beginning of Dec. and put them in air tight containers.  All the cookies are still moist and yummy!

  • I make one cookie per night for a week and two per day on the weekend and then give all my homemade gifts that following Monday or Tuesday.

I've never had a problem with them not being fresh.  Just make sure you store them in an airtight container, like those reusable plastic Glad or Ziplock ones they sell in the stores.

I just started this past monday.  2 down, 7 to go.

  • Thanks so much for asking this.  I was debating whether to start this weekend or wait until next week to make sure they are fresh enough.  Guess I'll be baking this weekend!

  • I made some of my cookies over a week ago and have been keeping them in an air tight container and they are still as fresh as the day I made them.  I think you'll be fine to make them this weekend.

  • COOKIE TIP: Put a slice of bread in the air-tight container you're storing your cookies in.  The bread will go stale (almost like a crouton consistency) and your cookies will stay fresh for much longer!

When you go to serve or deliver your cookies, be sure to take the bread out (it's not the nicest looking thing once it's all crusty and stale).  The recipient will think you baked the cookies the night before!

I've done this (completely forgotten about it though - doh!).  It really does work.
