This post irritated me...
Re: This post irritated me...
I don't think I understand the original post. Why is anyone upset with her about her sisters kids teacher? Was there another post?
ETA: NEVERMIND. Your link was to the second page and I didnt notice so I saw the first post on the second page and was wondering what in the world was so upsetting. lol
Karrey - I thought the same thing. I couldn't figure it out and felt like a big ole dummy.
Same here
Me too
Well I think Santa is awesome. And if you want to participate cool if not whatev. For me it all comes down to Jesus is the reason for the season.
I think those ladies make some good points about letting children use their imaginations while they can.
I have thought about not "doing Santa" for similar reasons but not quite as drastic. But I have come to the conclusion that Santa was a wonderful part of my childhood and I want it to be part of my childrens also.
I was also confuzzled!
Ok, I know this isn't the norm, but I was DEATHLY afraid of santa as a kid and he still creeps me out! Every year until about 4, there is a picture of me screaming and crying bloody murder because I didn't want to sit on that weirdo's lap at the family christmas party! And my family were a bunch of a-holes and refused to give me my present until I did, which usually meant physically forcing me to sit while I was screaming and struggling for my life. I didn't even want the present, just keep that freak away! It was TRAUMATIC to say the least! They thought it was hilarious, I almost had a heart attack every stinkin year. I knew that guy wasn't the "real" santa, so what was with this ridiculous charade?! I think the idea of santa is fun, but it's the magic of it that counts. Personally, I feel even telling your kids the mall santa is a "helper" is pretty retarded. What is the point of an imposter?! While they're young enough, let them have that, don't confuse them by throwing a stranger into the mix. Once they find out, be respectful of others. He should remain a whimsy, just for fun part of christmas. Just like a fairy tale.
Oh, and that lady is kind of a b*tch. Totally snobby about the whole thing. It's ignorant people like this who can't keep their idea of what's "right" to themselves & bash others' beliefs that lead to religious wars and hate crimes and all the BS going on in this world. Why is it so difficult to be considerate?
And LOL at anyone who stopped trusting their parents because of friggen santa! Brats!
I wonder, though... did this woman do this for attention or to cause a stir...MUD, or cause she really, truly believes it? Yeah. Right.
I believed in Santa-I still get presents from him, Mrs. Claus, etc...It's a tradition in my family. Do whatever you believe in-IMO. I love the traditions and even when I found out there was no Santa (which I don't remember-must not have been too traumatic), I still love the spirit of the season-the beauty.
To quote from that link: "killjoy".
This reminded me of my flower girls mom who says
"I'll be damned if I let my kid thinks some fat man busts his a$$ all year to put presents under the tree while I do all the effing work."
We traditionally got presents from any and all that could've/should've/would've lived at the north pole. All the raindeer gave us our stocking gifts. Mrs Clause, elves, santa, frosty, etc all put stuff under the tree. I remember how amazing it seemed and will likely do the same thing. From someone that had a pretty traumatic childhood, I say let the magic live as long as you can. You can only be that naive once.
