I hate my house.

The diapers are there to compare colours of purple. The paint colour is supposed to be a grayish tan. This is after three coats. So much money and time wasted... to make it worse now I'm afraid to re-paint in case this is just going to keep happening.
Re: It's worse.
Definitely try the D&R board. They even have a paint bio where people have posted pictures of different paint, so you could always find something there that might help. There are still quite a few girls on there in the PM, so it might be worth a shot asking.

We do have CFL bulbs. I switched out the bulbs with two different types of incandescent bulbs we still have lying around in our junk drawer (Reveal bulbs and regular soft white bulbs) and although the colour changed a bit between bulbs, it's still purple. It's an eggshell finish. It doesn't exactly match the chip but it's closer than I would have ever guessed, considering the chip doesn't look purple at all. I cannot figure out how the paint and the chip look so similar while looking so un-alike.
Grr. Right now I'm leaning towards leaving it, at least for now. It's just the upstairs hallway so it doesn't matter that much if it's not what I wanted. I had planned on painting the living room the same colour (and I have another jug of paint to do that with) and I'm so glad I started upstairs instead of downstairs. I couldn't leave the living room purple, if I had started downstairs. I think I'll go beg for a bunch of small cans of tester colours and paint a few colour swatches on the downstairs living room walls and then determine what colour I'm going to use.
Maybe I'll offer to paint my younger sister's boring white bedroom as part of her Christmas present and make use of the jug of paint I'm not going to use otherwise. Although I'm going to freak out if the colour looks right in her room.
What a bummer! That totally sucks! Very very frustrating. I hate painting to start with - so if it didn't come out the right colour, I'd be so angry.
Our main bath was supposed to be this pumpkin colour, but it came out more dark peach. I was pissed, but too lazy to redo it!
