Hello ladies. My name is Amanda, me and my husband have lived here in Albany since May, but I've just made my way over to the Nest here. Seems like a great group from my brief lurking today ![]()
I'm originally from RI (where our wedding was), just got back to the NE after 4 years in West Virginia, and am enjoying the upstate area so far. Husband and I are going on our delayed HM next week- to Puerto Rico, which I'm very excited for!
Me in a nutshell, in no particular order I enjoy: being rather boring for a 26 year old, stalking Target, hiking, cooking, baking way too many goodies with my new KA mixer, and my job- working with kids, who I love.
Onto the rec - anyone love their Ob/Gyn in the area? Must have delivering privileges at Albany Med. I'm due for my woman's physical, and we plan to TTC in the coming few months, so this is doubly pertinent- thanks!
Look forward to getting to know you all!
Re: Greetings! and recommendations?
Just wanted to say Hi and Welcome! I'm not from Albany so I don't have any recs. But try the upstate Bump board, for your question. More moms there may have your answer.

I go to the Albany Med Women's Wellness Center, on Troy-Schen Rd in Latham (in the Medical park).
I chose them because:
- they deliver at AMC
- there is more than 1 dr
- they have u/s and bloodwork in office
I had to make a quick decision b/c my old ob retired when I was 20 weeks pregnant, but I ended up loving the Drs at the practice. I had a c-section and the surgeon was great, and each Dr that saw me actually showed serious interest in the complications I had in delivering my first baby.
I have had a lot of people say they really like the Drs in Latham, Clark & Clemens, who also deliver at AMC.. I think they have 3D ultrasounds and bloodwork in office too.

The practice I use delivers at St. Peter's, but still wanted to say hi and welcome!

I'm not in Albany so I wouldn't be much help but I just wanted to say welcome and I'm in love with my new KA mixer too. Got it as a wedding present and cannot wait to use it this weekend for my baking!
Enjoy your trip next week!
Welcome to the board and congrats on your marriage! I am in love with my KA mixer, too - it's a life saver!
As for docs, I use Drs. Dropkin and Costello. They have their office in the Executive Park behind Stuyvesant Plaza. They have privileges at both AMC and St. Peters. You can choose which hospital to deliver at, but if the dr on call is already delivering at the other hospital, that's where you'd end up. Dr. Costello's my regular doc, but Dr. Dropkin did my c-section, and he did a great job.
Feel free to visit the Bump Upstate board - there's a great group of ladies on there!
They were recommended to me as well and I ended up leaving their practice at 20weeks. It just didn't feel comfortable to me. But they seem to have a big following in the area.
