Leep Procedure

Hopefully this isn't being too nosy, but I was wondering if any of you gals had ever had a leep procedure done. I'm expecially curious for those trying to get preggers, moms to be or current mommies. I just had the procedure done last week; we had been trying for baby before, but put on hold for this procedure to be done. I know everyone is different, but would just love to hear from some women that had the procedure then went on to have a healthy baby. Although if you've had issues, I'll love to hear from you too.

Re: Leep Procedure

  • I will be curious for other responses here.  I have had a LEEP procedure about 3-4 years ago.  I'm not preggers or have had a LO yet, but my doctor seems pretty optimistic if/when we have a baby.  She has not had a direct link of a LEEP to infertility or problems getting preggers in her practice.  They may have to watch you closer as the baby's growth progresses, but other than that I haven't heard of anything bad.

  • You might try the BOTB or the TTC boards on The Bump.  GL!
  • I had a LEEP about a year and a half ago, and now I am 8 1/2 weeks pregnant.  I can't testify to having a healthy baby yet, but all looks good so far!  I'm not really too worried about my cervix.  My doctor told me that he took as little as possible....only a very thin layer, and he would be surprised if my cervix had any trouble holding in the baby.  He said they'd monitor me carefully in the third trimester to make sure my cervix was strong, but he told me not to worry....so I'm really not!

Feel free to ask any further questions you like....I'm very open about my experiences. Big Smile

  • i had a LEEP probably 4 - 5 years ago.  (at least that is what I think it was, I didn't remember the name but when I looked it up, it sounded right).  My doctor never told me anything at the time about it possibly causing any trouble in the future.  Keep us posted if you hear anything else.
