Boston Visitors in the Winter...
My family is coming into town this weekend (!!!), and its their first trip to Boston, I want to show them around a little, but its going to be wicked cold this weekend/next week so the "touristy" things I would normally do are out.
We'll probably hang out most of the time, do a holiday dinner, decorate cookies, presents, etc. but I was hoping to go out at least for a little while.
Maybe the Frog Pond for ice skating? What do you ladies think?

Re: Boston Visitors in the Winter...
The Frog Pond is fun. But make sure to ask if your family doesn't mind being in the cold for a few hours. You guys could go to some museums (science, fine art, etc).
Sorry I'm not much help. I am not a winter girl at all. We don't usually do much in the winter because I don't like being cold. I don't know the area you live, but out by me there is a snow tubing park at Nashoba Valley Ski Area. I've never been, but we're going to go this year since it is minutes from our house.
What about all the museums and indoor attractions? The MFA and Isabella Stewart Gardner museums are right next to each other. Also, the Museum of Science has the Harry Potter exhibit, which might be fun. And the aquarium is a cool indoor thing to do.
The Copley Mall/Prudentilal Center would be fun for walking around and getting a bite to eat.
Also there is bowling at either Jillians or Kings... or is there anything going on with live music or sports?
My family is from out of town too, so often faced with the same issues. I just force them outside. We drove up the coast to see lighthouses one time in January!
