My in-laws have to stop thinking that everyone can go on a family vacation. We are all adults, who have different work schedules and different vacation schedules - STOP IT!!! Every year they do a trip to Ocean City, MD. Because of when they plan it for I've never been able to go (which is fine because I'm really not a family vacation fan). So yesterday my MIL throws out the idea - 'let's go on a family cruise every other Christmastime." Um, NO. I'm not spending that type of money (holiday cruises are very expensive) to spend the week with all of them. I like to take vacations to get away from drama, not take a vacation full of it. I threw out the idea of just a long weekend somewhere, like Maine, and said that maybe it would be easier to get everyone to go that way. I'm sorry, we are all adults, and my sibling IL's who wait every year for mommy and daddy to plan their vacation for them really need to grip reality and grow up!!

I got most of mine out yesterday, but I am miffed that my first day of vacation is Christmas Eve. I know I have been spoiled in the past, but I am feeling a crunch bc I usually have a day or 2 to get ready for Christmas before it is here and now I don't.

i have a holiday gripe- christmas cards! more specifically people that don't send them
i've been keeping track of who i get them from and who i send them to for the last two years and next year i'm seriously cutting the list down... way down from the looks of things.
LOL! I am annoyed with mysef bc I forget the same ppl every year, and only send out their card once their's reaches us! Oops!
Work!
We do a ton of stuff on our systems this time of year because students are out of classes and it's a low disruption period. I've just got too much going on here...and at home! I need a personal assistant to run some errands for me at home and a personal assistant to help with stupid crap here at work.
Blech!
On the positive - becuase hey, it IS Thankful Thursday - I'm thankful that DH and I both have jobs this year and we can buy Christmas presents for our family. And we've all been surprisingly healthy this season compared to last year.
i hear you.. between the card, the photo card, and the stamp, it is expensive!!
while you mention cards, thank you's would be nice once in a while too! not for everything, but some things for sure. I know these people who dont do them are watching tv and have time to do it. the least you can do is show gratitude that money was spent on you and effort to shop and wrap too.

and everyone sends the photo cards these days- they don't even hand write any salutation or their names on the card- how hard is it to just stuff the card into the envelope and pop it into the mail- you can even print address lables instead of addressing your envelopes if you need to save some time
My MIL (that stands for MONSTER-in-law, btw!) sent us a Christmas card with a snarky remark about us going on vacation with my parents. I want to tell her to grow up!
DH told his brother that he can stay with us for the next two nights. I have to go home and clean the house tonight because he's coming in late this evening. I'm annoyed because while I really like his brother, it's inconvenient to have company during the week and I still have so much to get done before we leave for vacation next week.
