WWYD? Lunch
I have three main managers that I work under and two of them are the best of buddies. These two just invited me, the other assistant and two of their other buddies to a 2 and a half hour lunch tomorrow. I really don't want to go.
First, I am broke. Second, the other manager who is in fact my more direct supervisor will be out of the office and I just think it looks bad (2 & 1/2 hours man). What do I say? I don't want to seem like I do not socialize or something but I really don't wanna go...

I can understand that Lawby! People can be presumptious and dense all at the same time. I would just give an acceptable excuse (i.e. I'm on deadline for this project, or I want to get caught up for after the holidays, etc). Sometimes, sending that in an email (within the office), is more realistic than telling them face-to-face. Which means they will hopefully believe you don't have the time.
I agree, Ms.Wifey...I will think about it some more.
