Motorola DROID

I'm due for an upgrade on my Verizon phone. I currently have the Samsung Flipshot, which I love because of all the cool camera features, but I'm really wanting something new with a touch screen. The DROID has a 5 mp camera, so it caught my eye, and it looks pretty cool. Anyone have it? If so, what do you like/dislike about it?

Thanks!!

Re: Motorola DROID

  • i have an andriod phone on Tmobile, and i'm telling you, the android market is fantastic!!  i've heard great reviews on the DRIOD, and am jealous i can't get it on my current provider.
  • My husband got his DROID on November 15 and he loves it.  So far I have heard nothing negative about it.

The Droid is a great phone, but camera features are not a reason to get it.  With the exception of the Samsung phones that are built to be cameras first, cell phone cameras are pretty much crap.  You can't cram that much camera into such a small space without sacrificing quality.  That, and at that size, a 5 MP cell phone camera won't provide much more quality than a 3 MP cell phone camera.

  • My mom and dad just got them. They are not very user friendly IMO.

They had to print out the manual from online because Verizon didn't provide them with one upon purchase. They told them that the manuals are so large that they don't print them anymore. It was only 50 pages that I found online for it.

I've played around with their phones but really dislike them.

Not to criticize their purchase, but this illustrates why it's important to always play with new electronic hardware for at least 5-10 minutes before buying it.  I just hope that since they bought them that they like them much more than you did.

There are always people (I'm speaking in general now) who will buy a product simply because they heard about how good it is, without ever using it first or even considering if it is the right product for them.  Then these people criticize the product and end up dissuading people - people for whom this might be the perfect product - from buying it.

THAT is why I always am bugging people on this board for details as to what they are looking for in a product, what they'll be using it for, a price range, previous experience, etc.
