Paging Dr. J9

I could webmd this, but it would probably tell me I have a deadly virus.

This is the second month in a row I've suddenly experienced soreness in my legs and butt very randomly. There is no reason my muscles would just ache -- I've done no exercise/physical exertion/movement to cause this. I work 40 hrs a week at a desk job and then relax in the evening. The soreness lasts about a week. Like I feel like I just ran a marathon yesterday.

Advice?

Re: Paging Dr. J9

  • How severe is the pain?  Do you have any other symptoms when the pain occurs?
  • stop letting W put it in the backdoor.

    Pinched nerve?

  • Love your new sig pic!

I have no idea why your muscles would feel sore all the sudden...hmmm. I give a sad face to this one. My first instinct is to say is circulatory or maybe even back-related. Boo.?

    MOFE FTW

I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends - I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late, and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments. And that's when it is nice to let them know that you can beat them up.
  • legs/butt sounds like either hamstring or sciatic nerve to me, depending where it's at. If you haven't done anything physical to warrant muscle pain, then I'd agree with Mofe and say it could be a nerve issue. Then again, I'm a labtech gone accountant, so what do I know?! Lol

  • Haha. Mofe FTW indeed! You know, I was even going to include a disclaimer in my OP that it wasn't anything sex-related, but I thought I covered that with the PHSYICAL EXERTION part!

angel, my coworker suggested circulatory problem too. And thanks for the sig pic love. :)

  • Didn't you just go back to working full time in about the last 2 months?  I have some mystery ailment that makes my leg tingle and go completely numb.  It's like it is asleep but it is an entire side of my body, from the waist down that goes immobile for 10+ min.  A lot of it has to do with sitting at a desk all day because I notice it is much better when I have to walk to meetings, etc.

Should I def. get this checked out by a non-J9 doctor? Would there be a reason it comes and goes?

    MOFE FTW

I'm a bit on the slow side... what does FTW mean?

  • It could be a multitude of things. Not to scare you, but just to give you an example. My mom has SEVERE scoliasis and has had dozens of issues relating to it over the years. One of the problems was that her sciatic nerve got pinched. It started out minor and then got very severe to the point where she spent days laying in bed crying just waiting to have surgery.

Since you're on W's insurance now, I'd go ahead and get it checked out if it continues to bother you.

  • C, I think I found a doctor. I just have to make the appointment, so I'll bring it up on my initial visit. I hope it's nothing too serious. :(
