Itchy skin

Something about the cold weather or sleeping at my in-laws' last night has me all itchy...my lower legs and lower back especially. Anyone else get itchy in cold weather? What do you do/put on for it?

Re: Itchy skin

  • I do and for me I think it's due to having the heater on in places.  I simply use a good body butter lotion and put it on every morning (and sometimes at night before bed).  That's the only thing that seems to work for me.
  • I do, too.  I just use a really thick lotion and try not to take really hot showers.  GL!

  • Yah, it's dry skin. I get it in those two exact places - legs and back. Lather up on the lotion! Every winter my back gets such dry skin it's painful, and my legs get so itchy I scratch them up. I have to keep lotion around me or my skin is done for.
  • I think y'all may have something with the heater...we went to Trudy's last night and the only seating was in the porch area, so I sat under a big heater/blower for several hours. I'm gonna get some good unscented, thick lotion and hope it gets better!
  • My skin itches at other peoples houses because they use fabric softner and my skin doesn't like it. My face always ends up all red and gross looking. I need to remember to travel with my own pillowcase! A good barrier during the day will help too. It doesn't moisturize but seals in the lotion or your own oils. Something like Aquaphor. That's what I use on DD's cheeks so they don't get chapped. My own too if we're going to be out in the cold for a long period of time.

  • I like Eucerin Calming Itch Relief lotion for the legs. Like Taytee, I avoid fabric softener and scented things. Even with all that though, I still get pretty darn itchy. Sensitive skin meeting winter is not a fun combo.
