Well, sort of. I have a few posts but I hope to be more of a fixture on here. I've been married a little over a year (10/26/08) and live in central MA. I don't know too many married couples in our area and would really like to connect with the Boston Nestie board. ![]()
Right now DH and I are looking for a house between Boston (my job) and Westborough (his job which he starts after the New Year! It's very exciting right now because he's been in school since 2002 and he's finally done with his degree.) Right now my commute is pretty long and his will be short so he really wants to try and keep the commutes even for both of us. Anyone familiar with the Framingham/Natick area? I've been to the towns multiple times but don't know what the commute would be like if we moved there.
I hope everyone's holidays are going well!!
Re: New to the Nest
Hi there! I am sorta new here too - H and I are making a concerted effort to find some married couple friends around our area too as it's one area in which we lack. We've been married for a little over three months.
I love the Natick area - that's what we are thinking of moving in a couple of years. We just bought a condo on the south shore in June and have to stay long enough to keep the stimulus $$$. I think the Framingham/Natick area would be a great compromise for you guys because I think both of you would have about a thirty to forty minute commute, barring lots of traffic.
I am in school too, in Boston, so I completely understand your H's relief (and yours too, I imagine) about being done with school. I still have about 4.5 more years to go.....sigh.
Happy Holidays to you too! :-) "Talk" to you soon!
Welcome to the board! It's a little more lively around here on the weekdays, but we're always looking for more active posters around here to liven things up a little, so feel free to post away!
I don't know much about living in either of those towns, I'm mostly out there just for the shopping
Good luck with the house hunt though. Oh, and I love your wedding date, it's my birthday
Yeah, the Natick Collection is quite an enjoyable shopping experience. Except during this time of year. I worked there last christmas and it once took me 3 hours to get from Hudson to Natick.
My mom's birthday is on my wedding day too.
Now she has no excuse to forget our anniversary (or me forget her birthday, haha).
Hi, and welcome. I'm also from central ma, but north central (Gardner). I'm originally from the South Shore.
Your wedding pics are beautiful!
Hi and welcome! I am also semi new to the nest (I don't post that much because I don't have nest access during work).DH and I just bought a house in Framingham on the Natick line this past summer and love the area. I work in Allston and don't find the commute to be a pain but my work schedule is 6 to 2:30 so not really prime commuting time.
I am also trying to get to know people as I don't know anyone that lives around us since I don't work in the town and we don't live near younger couples.
As for location the house prices in Natick are quite a bit higher than Framingham. Certain areas in Framingham near the downtown is not the greatest.
If I can be of any help just let me know.
Welcome.
Framingham/Natick would be a good mid way point. Easy to get on the pike to get into Boston, far enough out that your not priced out of the market.
I actually live and work in Framingham right now, and you do want to stay away from being too close to downtown. I love my kids from that section of town, I really do, but you only live there if you can't live somewhere else.
I live in a condo on route 9 and it's nice. Mostly owner occupied units (I rent) so it is pretty quiet. I have friends who live in the apartment complexes on the east bound side of route 9 and things are a little more "lively" as they are tenants rather than owners. My father actually lives in north Framingham, and we've been looking around there too at houses. Lots of cute capes and ranches in nice little neighborhoods. Some areas of town can be way over priced too and can have huge homes. It's a really interesting community because of the diversity.
I enjoy being here, but we'll be moving out to Maynard/Hudson area this summer just because DH's commute to Lowell is getting to him. Fair enough. He used to have the short commute when we lived in Waltham while he went to grad school, then I got the short commute because he didn't want to go out any further into the suburbs, but is finally ready to get a little bit of a yard and settle down a bit. I'll miss some of the conveniences though, like living across the street from a supermarket
, but having equal commutes will be good too.
Welcome
Hello!
