BR: Belly Bands

I think I remember a post a while back about someone getting a good deal on belly bands....I think like $9??  I bought one last weekend at motherhood when we went to Nashville shopping and I am going to need at least one more to get by.  I was hoping you resourceful ladies could point me into the direction of some deals.  I looked yesterday and only ones I found were in the same price range >$17

Also what are some good online stores to buy maternity clothes from.  The only store we have in town that carries maternity clothes is target and kmart:(

Re: BR: Belly Bands

  • Not sure about the $9 bands...I just got the BeBands at Target.

For online shopping, try GAP and Old Navy.  I bought a couple pairs of GAP jeans.  Nordstrom has stuff online, too, but of course it's pricey.

Oh, and if you haven't bought any maternity jeans yet, I'd recommend getting the full panel because I bought two with the medium panel and found them to be a little uncomfortable (the elastic is thick and strong and they kind of press on the bladder).

  • I also just bought a BeBand at Target last week.  I'd love to know where I could get another belly band for only $9 though!  Hawaii Target prices are a little higher so I ended up paying about $20 for my BeBand.

I've been looking online at Old Navy and Gap for maternity clothes but haven't ordered any yet.  I might just end up ordering some cheap jeans and shirts from Old Navy because I don't want to spend a fortune on clothes that I'll only be wearing for a few months.

  • I also got my BeBand at Target.  Paid about $17 in California.  I use mine ALL the time, however, and I only bought one (in black), so it's been completely worth it.

Re: maternity clothes.  I bought a few things from Target and Old Navy, but honestly, I really don't like most of them.  Most make me feel frumpy and tent-like.  I do like that the shirts are usually cut longer, however, which I definitely need now.

In general, I just go to Ross' and shop one to two sizes larger, and it has worked for me.  It's much cheaper than maternity wear and I've found a lot of great (long) tops with rusching and made of light, stretchy material, and jeans made of light, stretchy denim (continue to use belly band when necessary)... those are usually the styles that work best for me. Just another option to consider!

  • Yeah, I haven't heard of $9 bands either but I got the Belly Sash from Pea in a Pod on sale for $19 in California. I wanted to just get something quick at the time cuz I couldn't wait to unbutton my jeans and the Bella Band was like $26 or something at Nordstrom. But like you, I need another one and would totally be all over a $9 band if you find one!

Yeah, agreeing with pp, I'm also using long, stretchy shirts that I already have and they work great! I'm planning to just continue using my pants with the band for as long as I can because like others, I don't want to invest in too much maternity clothes that I'm only gonna wear for a few months. My empire waist shirts aren't working so well cuz it's too tight around my bust/back even if it accommodates my belly well. So the only thing I'd buy more of is long, stretchy shirts...

  • BTW, I'm still able to wear some of my pre-pg shirts, too, but for the most part they're too short now.  I made it pretty far though - about 30 weeks.

Also, I thought the maternity jeans I bought early on would last me all the way through...BUT...now I'm not so sure.  My hips are definitely starting to widen out now and the jeans that were loose at first are a little snug in the hip/butt area.  It's the weirdest thing.  I mean, I heard people say it happens but you just don't believe it until it actually happens to you.  I'm hoping I can make it another 8 weeks without buying more, though.  I'm thinking I may have to hit up Old Navy or something, or just stick to yoga pants for the rest of the time.

  • I got most of my maternity stuff from Target. It was cheap and it worked for me! My friend got some nice maternity jeans for cheap on eBay and I got a new nursing tank on eBay also. HTH!

The shorter panel pants SUCK! I got a TON of maternity clothes at Kohl's for great deals and I also traded with friends that just had babies. They gave me theirs and when they get preggo next, I'll pass mine over to them. It's a great way to expand your maternity wardrobe without buying a bunch of stuff.

I didn't really NEED maternity clothes until I was about 25-27 weeks and then the belly band and my shirts weren't working. My shirts were creeping up and showing the lower part of my expanding belly (ew!) and the belly band wasn't comfortable AT ALL!

Also have you tried CL? You can get some great stuff on there!
