Fly Often? Question...

My sister lives in Australia and comes home 1-2 times a year and does a few work trips throughout the year domestically.  Needless to say, it's a loooong flight to and from Australia.  So I'm looking to get her something as a gift that can be used/helpful during the flights.  Hope to keep under $50 and not to heavy/bulky so will fit in luggage easily and not add weight.

Any suggestions?  TIA!

Re: Fly Often? Question...

  • The Today Show just did a feature on gifts for flyers/travellers this week. They had wraps that can be used a lot of different ways and slippers that roll up very small, etc. Maybe try their website?
  • I got my friend who travels a lot a NAP blanket set. It's a super soft fleece blanket that folds into a small pocket. When you take the blanket out though, you can inflate the pocket and have a nice travel pillow. It folds up small and is really great for comfy travelling.

totally agree with the fly pillow, i never fly without mine!

  • She has a pillow already, but the blanket/pillow combo could work.  Where did you get it?  Brookstone?

  • Just to echo the other posters....I vote for a blanket and thick, comfy socks.  I always freeze my butt off on planes!

  • I don't fly that often, but when I had to go overseas a couple of times for work I fell in love with my bucky travel pillow. I sleep with it every night now-

I think the one I have is the Minnie, and it was around $20 when I got it a few years ago-

eta: just noticed she already has a pillow- oops!

  • Dh and I have started bringing clear plastic water bottles with us on flights, since you aren't allowed to bring bottled water with you and it costs about three times more to buy it once you get past security.  We have Nalgene bottles, so security can see that they are empty when we pass through, and then we fill them at water fountains.  That might be a nice addition to the blanket/pillow.
