Re: Christmas Plans

  • I always go to Christmas Mass on Christmas Eve, then spend the night at home with DH.  Christmas morning we open presents at our house then go to my parents to open presents there and have breakfast.  Then we have dinner there too.  We like to go to the movies at some point if there's anything good out.  My cousins and Grandma are coming in Sunday so we will celebrate with them.  Then my aunt comes in later that week and we celebrate with her.

  • Christmas Eve is my mom's b-day so after work we'll go over to my parents house to celebrate. Then we'll stay there until the 26th to celebrate Christmas with my immediate family. On the 26th we're flying to RI to see MH's family and we'll stay there until the 1st.

  • Christmas eve we go to my parents' house.  Have dinner and open gifts.  Then MH and I come home and when we get up Christmas morning, we open our gifts.  Then we go to his mom's house to have dinner and open gifts there.

This year we will also be headed to Detroit on Christmas day to go to a bowl game on Saturday.  Then back here on Sunday for Christmas with my husband's aunts and uncles and cousins.

I'm going to need a vacation after Christmas break....

  • Christmas Eve is for me and Mike.  We have no clue what we're going to do though...ordering take out and watching a movie is looking appealing.  We'll open one gift from each other that night and save the rest for the next morning.  Except Mike only has one gift from me this year, so I'm not sure how that'll work (I also bought him a surround sound system, but he ripped into that the day it arrived).

Christmas Day we head down to my parents' house around 7AM and meet my sisters there to open presents.  That's where we opent any remaining presents from each other.  We eat cinnamon rolls and have mimosas during this.  We hang out a little in the morning and I help my mom clean up before going home to get dressed and make any food I'm responsible for for dinner.  Then back to my parents' house for dinner, hang out there some more, help clean up again and then back to our house and maybe watch another movie and crack open a bottle of wine.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

    Vacation
  • Christmas Eve we will go to my parents house. We usually stop by my MIL's, but this year she is going to her roomates sisters house, I was invited but probably won't go. MH has to work at 6 so I don't get to see him for very long.  Since MH has to work overnight Christmas eve I always stay at my parents house.

He usually goes home to sleep for awhile and I wake up and do presents at my parents house with my sisters and parents. Then I think I will go home and pick up MH and we will go to my SIL's house and do presents with that side of the family. We will probably hang out there for awhile and then go home and exchange gifts with eachother and I will cook for when I am bringing to dinner. Then we will head to my parents house and stay there till fairly late.

I'm sad because we have a fairly small family and my mom just called and said my aunt broke her knee because she jumped off her porch after she got locked out so she probably won't be coming home :(

  • Christmas Eve night: go to the IL's house for dinner and gift exchange.  See whether or not if it's a good idea to take David to midnight mass.  I'm thinking not.

Friday: Church in the morning.  My parents will stop by for an hour or so.  Go to Mark's cousin's house at 2 pm for dinner with the rest of his aunts, uncles and cousins.

  • Christmas Eve: This used to be traditionally spent with his Grandma (MIL's mom) and that family, but we always have to work and they like to have it at like 3:00.  So beginning last year, we stay home (it'll be a long day for Greg at work, and it's supposed to be crazy weather.)  We're having fondue and watching Elf and possibly White Christmas.

Christmas Day: Get up, we would exchange gifts for one another (as far as I know, we've not bought anything for one another! LOL)  Then down to ILs to open gifts and have a late lunch with MIL, FIL, Grandma, and FIL's sister & HH (Greg's best man.)

My family always does Christmas a separate day (usually a Sunday); this year it'll be Sunday, Dec 27.

Of course, no CLUE how this is going to work with icy roads/snowstorm.

  • Christmas Eve: Chill w/ Mark & Emily until we go to Christmas Eve service at Church.

Christmas: Open presents w/ Emily/Mark, clean up, wait for my family to come over to spend the day w/ them.

  • Christmas Eve:  it's just me and DH, I will be making a nice dinner and we each have something to open (I bought us both pj sets)

Christmas Day:  Get up and eat coffee cake, open our presents to each other, then we are going to the movies, then we are going to my mom & dads for dinner
