Hey girls, hope this poll gets a better response:
1) fave thing you like about LA/SoCal:
2) you you dislike the most about LA:
3) worst traffic accident you've seen or worst traffic you've been stuck in (how long, etc.)
4) your favorite thing about your husband:
5) least favorite re: husband:
Re: Random poll - come on!
1) fave thing you like about LA/SoCal: the weather & being able to enjoy the outdoors - I love hiking, running, and ocean swimming!
2) you you dislike the most about LA: oops, I meant thing you dislike the most. Hmm, the congestion in attraction areas (like not being able to enjoy places like the Grove on weekends unless you want to wade through tons of ppl), the traffic. But probably most the flakiness of people I've met. It seems like friendships are a lot more casual here, come and go and it doesn't matter, that's just the way things are kind of attitude.
3) worst traffic accident you've seen or worst traffic you've been stuck in (how long, etc.)
I just saw a motorcycle COMPLETELY burned, charred, lying on the 10 westbound a couple of mornings ago. All lanes of traffic were shut down while they were dealing with it. Got there too late to see what happened to the person, but it couldn't have been good. I couldn't even figure out what the charred thing on the ground was at first because it was so burned. Awful! Oh, also, a couple of years ago I saw a car on fire, but it was a little far away.
4) your favorite thing about your husband: his patience and sweet attitude toward me. he treats me like a princess.
5) least favorite re: husband: His crazy driving and his laziness. I can be lazy too, and both of us being lazy together too often is not a good thing.
1) fave thing you like about LA/SoCal: The weather and how everything is near. You can go to the beach, the mountains, camping, all year round.
2) you you dislike the most about LA: The traffic and congestion. I also hate the LA "scene", so I never go to any trendy places where my out of town friends wanna go cause they saw it in US Weekly or something.
3) worst traffic accident you've seen or worst traffic you've been stuck in: I was once stuck on the 10 East for 3 hours when a big rig overturned and caught fire causing a multiple car pile up. It took another 2 hours to get off, turn around and head back home.
4) your favorite thing about your husband: He is a genuinely good person and everyone he meets just loves him.
5) least favorite re: husband: He leaves his clothes all over the place, really that's it.
1) fave thing you like about LA/SoCal: I love being close to the ocean and the mountains, and the fact that I can sail and ski in the same weekend!
2) you you dislike the most about LA: Santa Ana winds. Don't like the heat and all of the smog that comes with them.
3) worst traffic accident you've seen or worst traffic you've been stuck in: Within a month, I saw two different motorcyclists gift hit only a couple of cars in front of me. Both cyclists ended up being ok, luckily.
4) your favorite thing about your husband: He is so thoughtful and treats me like a princess (I'm getting spoiled!).
5) least favorite re: husband: Definitely his snoring - I could do without that!
mrsinoct -
my hubby had been snoring a lot recently, and I couldn't sleep in the same bed. Now he uses the extra strength breathe right strips, and it's better. When he does start snoring a bit, I shove him in his sleep (gently, I'm not that bad of a wife!), and he subconsciously stops snoring somehow, even though he's still sleeping. maybe that will help?
1) fave thing you like about LA/SoCal: Weather, shopping, cars, and oddly I love the traffic. There's something so homey about it since I was born here and I get to listen to NPR a little longer.
2) you you dislike the most about LA: Not all the people but some of the people here. The one's that act super fake and "hollywood-ish." They act like they're the bees-knees and they're totally not.
3) worst traffic accident you've seen or worst traffic you've been stuck in (how long, etc.) I was stuck on the 101 around Woodman for about an hour and a half because the cops finally pulled someone over after a high speed chase and they didn't want to endanger anyone.
4) your favorite thing about your husband: How he makes me smile all the time and how happy I am when I am around him.
5) least favorite re: husband: Huh, I guess that he could spend HOURS playing video games when there are way more important things to do...
1) fave thing you like about LA/SoCal: Definitely the wide selection of unique restaurants and bars. I love that I can eat practically any type of cuisine in a day - and try out funky places like the Bazaar or the Edison.
2) thing you dislike the most about LA: Traffic/traveling to see family. All of my family is on the East Coast, so we're constantly flying around the country to visit everyone. The honeymoon was our first and only vacay alone!
3) worst traffic accident you've seen or worst traffic you've been stuck in (how long, etc.) I was stopped at a red light once while several police cars had pulled a car over and had their guns drawn. I didn't want to get in trouble for running the red, but I did anyway just to get outta there.
4) your favorite thing about your husband: I never have to make the bed, take out the trash, or do the dishes. He's a little OCD when it comes to cleaning.
5) least favorite re: husband: It's minor, but when he chews something crunchy it sounds like a cement mixer. I tease him all the time about it.
1. Fave thing: my husband loves his job, and this is the only place he can do it. I'm thankful to have a husband who loves his job. I also love the book fair at UCLA every spring. And I do love the freaks in Hollywood. That place feels like home to me.
2. Least favorite: the people. For the most part, they are selfish, flaky and shallow. They value image, celebrity, money and material possessions, and even the children here wear makeup and have cell phones at astonishly young ages. I am so afraid to raise a child in this city.
3. Worst accident: I saw a dead man lying on the 101. He had been on a motorcycle. I'm not sure how it happened, but his shoes were knocked clean off.
4. Favorite thing about my husband: he is a goof. A long time ago, one of my students' parents told me to marry a goof because he would always make you happy. It's true.
5. Least favorite: he doesn't rinse out the hairs when he trims his beard over the sink. Beard crumbs gross me out!

OMG, I can't believe you saw a dead man. That is too scary, so much more real than just seeing the cars!
Also, just wanted to say that unfortunately, MH does the same thing with the little pieces of beard hair left over the sink. Yuck.
Yeah, I cried. I was in the car by myself and it was really scary. It had to be right after the accident because no cops were there yet, but the other car was stopped and there was a group of people standing on the side of the road and talking and he was just lying motionless on the street and no one was talking to him or standing over him so I was pretty sure he was dead. I guess he could have just been unconscious or something. Maybe I'll go with that theory.
And, beard crumbs are the worst. I hate when I got to wash my face at night or something and realize they are all stuck to the side of my hand.
