  • Here

She also posted on the baby names board that if you don't want to share your name before your baby is born, it's obvious a horrid name that no one would like anyway.

  • Oh dear Lord.  Thanks for posting that link.  What a nut job.
  • wow.  thanks...I just posted my reply.  Hits close to home...lmao

    Your response was great. Smile

  • This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of...competing with Santa over who gets credit for giving gifts...she is an idiot!

  • It's one thing if parents don't want to make a big deal out of Santa, and I actually applaud NOT using Santa as a ploy - the whole "If you don't behave, Santa won't bring you anything", bit.

However, making it about lying, dishonesty, etc.... this is yet another example of how f'd up people are getting that even something as innocent as Santa is now a "bad" thing.

It's people taking things WAY to seriously.

  • It seems like the OP is, by her adamant insistence on the whole "I don't DO the SANTA THING" and putting a great deal of thought and energy into NOT doing it, actually...well...spending a lot more time and effort on not doing Santa than people who just don't place a big emphasis on it and gradually let their kids grow out of it.

I also think there's a big difference between encouraging small children to have a sense of wonder and awe and belief in possibility and lying to them for some nefarious purpose (though I admit to being at a loss as to what nefarious purpose Santa could serve...increasing childhood obesity rates by demanding cookies, perhaps?)
