XP: Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Endeavor or Pontiac Torrent
I posted this on the cincy bump board but I thought I would ask you ladies also! So we are looking on upgrading to a mid-size SUV before the baby gets here and these are three that we are looking at (or rather I am going to look at and then get DH's opinion haha) I was just wondering if any of you have ever owned one of these and if so what are some pros/cons etc? I have only ever owned cars and this is going to be a big adjustment for me to go to a larger vehicle. Any other tips from SUV owners? things to consider for 1st time moms (carseat things, etc)? TIA!
Re: XP: Hyundai Santa Fe, Mitsubishi Endeavor or Pontiac Torrent
I have personally never owned any of the 3 you have listed, but I have friends or family who have owned a Santa Fe and the Mitsubishi Endeavor. I have never heard either of them complain about them in any way. I owned a Pontiac Grand Am and my mom has owned 2 Pontiac vehicles in the past and I HATE them! It seems like once 1 thing breaks it's all down hill from there.
I don't have kids, but I have owned 3 SUV's now and my favorite option is the power rear door... It's the BEST! I think it would be even better if I had kids and more 'stuff' to juggle. I like it when my hands are full or I am going out with groceries etc... I thought it was a senseless option when ordering my current car, but it was part of the package and I am so glad I got it now! Other than that I miss having 100 cup holders! My Toyota Highlander had 8 for the 2 front seats and I thought it was overkill, but now that I only have 2 for the front seats I wish I had those others back for my phone, ipod etc..
We don't have a SUV. We do however own a Kia, the sister company to Hyundai. We're hesitant to buy another American car (based on our experiences owning them) but Toyota & Honda were a little bit too pricey. We LOVE the 10 year/100K mile warranty. I think we'd buy from them again just for the warranty.
My sister & I both owned tiny little Mitsubishi starter cars. They were good but they started falling apart at around 10 years.
Other than that, maybe take a stroller or car seat with you when you do the test drive so you can see how everything fits.
Honestly? I'd go for the Santa Fe.
If you have your carseat already, bring it with you to the test drive and try to install it.
this is what I had before I got my new car... I wish I had the Highlander back!! I LOVED IT! I think the next time I order a new car it will be another Highlander, it's got soooo much room! Thankfully my DH works for Toyota so I get a new car every year or 2 through his work and so far the Highlander has been my fav!
My mom has a Santa Fe and loves it. My husband sells cars, and in his opinion, Hyundai's are the best car out there.
Plus, the warranty can't be beat.
