Do you find this strange?

A friend came over Saturday to do some baking.  She was planning to come at lunch time, so I told her I tons of leftovers that we could heat up for lunch.  She opted for some soup.  Heated it up in the tupperware container and ate it straight from there.  But she couldn't finish it all, so she put the lid back on and put it back in the fridge.  I was surprised that she didn't just throw out the rest...

Re: Do you find this strange?

  • If it were my own house I might consider this but not at a friends. First, I probably wouldn't heat things in the tupperware since I fear the leaking of plastic chemicals. But to consider that your germs are throughout the soup and you won't be the one to finish it. Yuck!

  • I second MsZoe. I never heat up plastic for the same reasons. I guess if she is eating it later then it's all good but if it's for someone else to finish...ew.

  • Yea that is odd.

FIrst of all, it sounds like there was a lot of soup, so why wouldn't she put some in a mug unless she was absolutely sure she could finish it?

And yea, why would she leave partially eaten food behind - does she assume you'll eat it?  It's not even like a piece of bread where you can cut off where someone has bitten.  It was liquid, no less heated up liquid, which would breed germs.  Not cool in my book.

  • Gross.  I'd toss that out quick...
  • I agree that I never heat anything in plastic either, and putting it back? If it were almost anyone, I'd throw it out. I do have 2 former roommates that I'm so close to that it wouldn't seem wierd to put it back though. Then again,. I'm not afraid of a few germs in most cases (lived in a tent for 2+ years 80% of the time with these 2 girls.)
  • Thats weird! I don't care about the heating in plastic.. but to eat out of the tupperware and just put it back in the fridge at someone elses house is plain old weird.

  • Yup - exactly what MelissaSue said.
  • Yeah, it wasn't the heating plastic that I found strange.  I do that....I just thought it was strange that she put it back in our fridge.  It definitely got tossed.  It's not like we've been BFFs since childhood and have shared food/germs.  I've only known her for 6 months or so!
