Need idea for a present

My dad's been laid off since March. Since he doesn't really have the extra money and we have baby expenses coming up, he said we shouldn't exchange gifts. That doesn't stop me, but maybe not something huge, ya know. Anyway, he doesn't really need anything. For the past umpteen thousand years, he's jsut wanted work shirts, pants and ties. Seriously. Obviously this is innaproriate. Also, the Dr told him he's borderline diabetic so sweets are out. Any ideas on what we could gift him? I am at a loss. Something he could use as a treat or to take on expenses he may have? He enjoys outdoors stuff, not hunting...

Re: Need idea for a present

  • if he's a coffee drinker, you could do a gift basket with some different varities.

what types of outdoorsy stuff does he like, or does he just like to be in his backyard noodling around, or hiking, etc?

  • Fixing stuff, camping, crap like that. Doesn't drink coffee and now has to cut back on sweets, breads and stuff like that.

  • My dad has type 2 daibetes also. The candy store in towne center I think it's called Rocky mountain, has some delicious chocolate options made with splenda. Especially the ones with nuts, helps give him a little more protien.

Regarding camping, how about a water purification system. One of those really eady ones, for the jut in case. This is assuming you mean tent camping.
