Family Game Ideas

My family is coming down from Alabama for New Years and I wanted to have a family night where we just eat food and play fun games. Anyone have any suggestion for some really good family games? We have played Scene-It before and that was really cool. Any other games that you love??

Re: Family Game Ideas

  •  Some of my favorite group games are: pictionary, cranium, scattegories...
  • We play Sorry a lot. I not sure if you have ever played balderdash before but its a real fun game. But I would keep that game to adults only, because you have to make up definations of what you think a word means and if there is alcohol involved the definations can get a little carried away.

  • We love Taboo.  We have the original version and the new one (Ultimate Taboo?) which has new elements that makes it even more fun!
  • Apples to Apples is one of my favorites.  And my sister was telling me about this new game - Things??  I guess you get categories and you have to finish it "Things you shouldn't do while driving" etc. and everyone submits an answer anonymously and you have to guess who put down what.  She said it was hillarious!
  • 20 Words or Less is a good game.  We're also fans of Uno and Hearts.
  • We love Partini & Cranium's Pop 5

  • Cranium, Scattergories, Phase 10, Uno, Things, Pictionary, Mad Gab, Yahtzee, Rummikub, Sequence, Catch phrase, blockus, scrabble

If there's kids (little older)- Monopoly, clue, life, battleship, perfection

Kids (little younger)- memory, guess who, chutes & ladders, candy land, trouble

  • thanks everyone for all the ideas! partini looks like so much fun! I gotta go online and look up all these games now!!

  • Bananagrams!!  It's for 2-8 players, it's so much fun!  I also like Quiddler, it's another word game.  We love Mad Gab, Scattergories, Catch Phrase, Phase 10, Hearts, and Tripoly. My sister had a DVD game that she had at her game night and it was something like a battle of the sexes; I can't for the life of me remember the name, but it was pretty fun.
