  • Sierra's family usually has a bigger 'to do' on Christmas Day. That's when the whole family gets together.

Sierra's favorite tradition is singing "The 12 days of Christmas" with her family at the dinner table after dessert.
Sierra's grandmother has dessert plates with the Days of Christmas on them and who ever gets #1 starts and then #2 and so on. It is so fun!!

  • Christmas Eve is a bigger day for Lauren's family.  That's when Lauren's Mom makes a special dinner, Lauren's family has more traditions, etc.

Lauren's favorite Holiday tradition is all of Christmas Eve--Lauren's Mom always makes shrimp scampi for dinner, her family always listens to Christmas music during dinner, and they always drive around looking at Christmas lights and listening to Christmas music.  Later that night, they have dessert while watching Christmas Vacation or another holiday movie on tv.

Lauren is most looking forward to spending time with her family and Bella this holiday season.  She loved having the big snow this weekend because it made it almost like truly having a white Christmas!

  • Lorelai thanks Lore... She's been bored out of her mind lately... Wink

Christmas Day is Lorelai's bigger holiday for her family... She gets to see (usually) ALL of her sisters and that side-which she rarely sees... This will be Lorelai's 2nd Christmas seeing the SKIDS with their gifts as she missed out last year and wasn't really there the first year... Sad

Lorelai's fav tradition... well, it's more of what she likes. Lorelai loves the late candlelight services... LOVES THEM!  Lorelai also loves to find the 'pickle' ornament or those special ones.  Lorelai started it with her fam last year-find the xyz ornament and it has $1, quarter, dime, nickle, penny in it for each kid.  (too bad Lorelai really hid the one ornament cause she needs to fill it and it's MIA!!!)Stick out tongue

  • When Rachel was little it changed every year based on how excited Rachel's parents were to give Rachel and her sister her gifts.  On Christmas Eve her family ALWAYS had hor d'ouerves though!  Yum.

Now Rachel does most of Christmas with the ILs, so she goes to mass on Christmas eve and does presents on Christmas Day.  Last year Christmas sucked hardcore (stomach flu and the bad feeling that later became a m/c) so this year she is really excited to have a happy Christmas day.  She and J will pack up the baby and the dogs and hang out the IL all day.  That is the day that Rachel and her SIL will give her MIL/FIL the letter from the grandkids that asks them to quit smoking for Christmas.  Rachel is REALLY nervous that this going to go badly; but her MIL just mentioned yesterday giving up smoking for New Years so hopefully it will be okay.

Rachel is also bummed that her sisters aren't going to make it in for Christmas.  Rachel again hates to the flucking snow.

  • Tell us: which one is bigger in your family: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Christmas, not that either day is really "big" Sheri's family.  It's just the 7 of them (M, Sheri, Sheri's MIL, Sheri's FIL, Sheri's SIL, Sheri's SIL's FI and Sheri's niece).

Tell us what is your favorite Holiday tradition?
M and Sheri getting their special Christmas tree together, it's their only tradition right now.

AND BONUS POINTS if you tell us what are you most looking forward to these holidays.
Watching Sheri's niece open all her gifts (well, at least open some until she opens a gift that takes her attention).  To hell with it, watching everyone else open their gifts, Sheri loves watching people open gifts and seeing their expressions.

  • Christmas Day is much bigger in Danielle's family.  A few years ago she started having her family (dad, smom, sisters) over for Christmas Eve and some how it became a slosh fest.  We still party it up pretty good on Christmas Eve, but since we seem to have someone pregnant every year now, it has tapered off a bit. Our schedule is: Eve for dinner and drinks with Danielle's family at Danielle and DH's, Christmas morning for breakfast and presents at little sisters house, then Christmas night at Brother in Law's for presents and dinner with DH's family.

This year Danielle is most looking forward to Christmas morning with her family.  Danielle's dad had a job in MN for most of the year, and just got a new one in Los Angeles.  Although it is still far and we don't see him as much as we used to, she is super excited to just spend the morning with dad (he won't get in until Christmas am so we will miss him at dinner on Christmas Eve).  She is also excited that she just found the PERFECT gift for little sis's boyfriend. He is impossible to shop for, and she thinks that she and DH finally found a good one!

Good luck w that!!! Kudos to both Rachel and SIL for doing that. Def important (and maybe Sheri can give Rachel some of her balls... =))

  • Neither Christmas Eve or Christmas is bigger in Kim's family.  This year Kim and DH are spending Christmas eve with Kim's family and then Christmas day with DH's family.  It works better for them this way since DH's parents are divorced.

Kim can't really think of any holiday traditions her family always does.  When Kim and her brothers were little they got to open one present on Christmas eve but it's obviously different now.

Kim is most looking forward to be off with her hubby and them getting to spend QT togehter.

  • In Amy's family, Christmas day is when things happen.  We open presents, eat a big lunch, and usually go see a movie Christmas night.

In DH's family, Christmas eve is when we open gifts, have a big dinner, and then go to mass.  Amy usually skips mass as she isn't Catholic and she has to get up early and drive to Omaha on Christmas day.

Amy's favorite holiday tradition is playing christmas carols on the piano.

Amy is most looking forward to see her sister Laura before she goes to Germany for 6 months to study abroad.

  • Christmas Eve was always a bigger deal in Lore's family. Big dinner, dressed up, open gifts from each other. Christmas Day was about Santa's gifts, leftovers at noon, in pj's. But now that Lore's parents are divorced and her brothers are married with kids, it's all a big mess. That's the only good thing about not going to Mexico for the holidays: the orchestrating schedules and driving from place to place.

Lore's DH's family does the opposite: informal gathering for Christmas Eve, gifts and big meal for Christmas Day.

Lore is looking forward to next year, when she'll try to start new holiday traditions. So far, her only tradition is to get a cool ornament, though she has no tree.

  • Kristy's sister and exBIL share custody of niece, so it switches every year. Kristy's immediate family is now up to 18 people, 20 if the 2 nephews bring their girlfriends! It's the one time the WHOLE family is ALWAYS together. DH's family just isn't close on either side, it's sad.

Kristy's favorite tradition is going to her aunt's house christmas night where a bunch of her aunts, uncles, and cousins get together (like 50 people)! they are a crazy bunch

Kristy is most looking forward to seeing the kids open presents, especially the 18 month and 3 year old!

  • Tell us: which one is bigger in your family: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? My family? Christmas, although Christmas Eve is pretty fun. I shop with my dad and then go to the neighbors for lots of food and drinking. On Christmas we open presents and go to see my mom's and dad's families. J's family, I think Christmas Eve. We're going out to dinnner. I don't think we do anything on Christmas besides open gifts.

Tell us what is your favorite Holiday tradition?
We give each other our gifts a few days before Christmas so it's just us. It's more special that way.  We usually have something for dinner too.

AND BONUS POINTS if you tell us what are you most looking forward to these holidays.
Going home to my house for New Years! Oh and dinner on Christmas Eve looks pretty tasty if the restaurant is offered the full menu - rare tuna yes please.

  • Tell us: which one is bigger in your family: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day?
In Breanne's family it's a little bit of both.  On Christmas Eve, Breanne's mom makes soup for supper and then they go to Christmas Eve candlelight services in the church where she grew up.  They look at lights on houses on the way home.  The girls get to open their Christmas pajamas (boys opted out of this tradition a few years ago).  Christmas day, everyone gets up and opens presents while the breakfast casserole is cooking.  Used to be that we went to see some extended family, but now we do that in the days after Christmas.  This year Breanne's dad's family will be coming for lunch on Saturday and her mom's sister will be coming for dinner on Saturday.

Tell us what is your favorite Holiday tradition?
Breanne's all time favorite tradition is that her parents leave all the Christmas lights on all night Christmas Eve.  They used to say that they did it for Santa, but they still do it, even though Breanne and her siblings are too grown up for Santa.  It's so nice to wake up to all the lights on.

AND BONUS POINTS if you tell us what are you most looking forward to these holidays.
Breanne is really looking forward to seeing everyone open their presents.  And she is looking forward to getting her hands on her new nephew!

  • EmbarrassedAngie would first like to apologize for the billionth time for being MIA yet again. Things have been pretty hectic, but she thinks things are calming down enough she should be able to pop in and out a lot more often :-).

Tell us: which one is bigger in your family: Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? For Angie's family, Christmas Day is bigger. On Christmas Eve, Angie and her family eat dinner, hang out and watch movies, look at lights and go to midnight mass. On Christmas Day, they open gifts in the morning, and then its kind of lazy/relaxed until dinner - they have a big dinner all together. In Angie's DH's family, Christmas Eve is bigger (so her DH says), but they all get together again on Christmas Day.

Tell us what is your favorite Holiday tradition?
Angie's favorite tradition used to be on Christmas Eve. After dinner but before church, her grampa would tell a story, always involving her and her siblings names in the story, and he would make it up. It always had something to do with how the three kids (i.e. us) were so excited for Santa to come. Her grampa would make it up as he went along, so it was never the same from year to year, and it was always hilarious. Angie is sad that this doesn't happen anymore, but her and her siblings are grown up now. She was hoping it would re-start b/c of her niece, but her sister is a butt-munch and cut ties with the fam, so it won't be happening. Angie also loves going to midnight mass (still trying to figure out why its at 11pm this year, but still called midnight mass, but she digresses).

Angie's new favorite traditions are picking out a new ornament with DH each year. She also has a lot of fun at her DH's aunt's house on Christmas Eve playing White Elephant. Angie and DH are still working on starting some of their own traditions, which she worries might become an issue later on down the road when she has kids. Oy...

AND BONUS POINTS if you tell us what are you most looking forward to these holidays.
Angie is looking forward to waking up in her own bed, since the past two they stayed at one parents house or the other. She is also looking forward to the fact that her and DH don't have to drive 2-hours home afterwards. Angie is also looking forward to seeing everyone open their gifts - she loves watching the looks on everyone's faces.
