make sure you're not going to get to a place and regret it?
MH and I have been discussing a trip later in 2010 or possibly early 2011 (since he couldn't get a December 2010 vacation.) Since there are SO MANY PLACES to go and my focus on it being an economical vacation, I'm frightened I'll stick us in a place we get to and be horrified with!
Short of running from site to site comparing reviews, how do you decide where to go and which place is the best choice (while keeping price in mind)?
TIA
Re: Travel ? - How do you
It's be one thing if we had a clue... as is, I don't think we particularly care, but we'll DEFINITELY be flying. LOL In October - February, you cannot drive anywhere nice enough to lay out from here!
We'd said we were going to take this this year, but no way after going to England earlier this year.
So next year.. or the year after. It makes me nervous to try for October since it's still hurricane season.
Not sure - we could end up anywhere from South Carolina (not sure we'll be doing MUCH laying out in October there.. haven't researched it) to Florida (which I know is decent in October - we were there for a friend's wedding) to Mexico.
We honestly don't care WHERE we go as long as we can have some lazy time with some low-key things to do... maybe some good food and a nice night atmosphere. And price, of course. LOL
Charleston in October is wonderful, everything Elizabeth said is true. The summers are hot and miserable but fall is perfect, you may even get lucky and be able to lay out, it can still hit the mid 80's. We go to C-ton all the time so if you are thinking of going let me know I can give you some good recs on hotels, restaurants etc.
We went to Costa Rica on our honeymoon and it was VERY reasonable, the flights weren't bad and the hotels and restaurants were unreal for the price.

Unfortunately, where we'd fly out of kind of kicks us for prices. We COULD do the 3.5 hour drive to Chicago, but MAN that sucks big time. So we probably would do Milwaukee at best since it's only 2 hours.
And we'd only be looking at a ~3-4 day trip. After that, we both kind of get homesick and miss our baby girl. Yes, we're pathetic like that. LOL
ETA: After looking a little on Orbitz, I am such an idiot. Funjet Vacations always kicks Orbitz's, Travelocity's, Expedia's, and anyone else's arse! I belive all they do is all-inclusive too and for ~$500-800pp, no vacation sight can compare.
Everyone on this board has been to quite a few places, so if you're thinking somewhere specific...just ask
Otherwise when we find a place we want to go we ask family and friends and coworkers if they've been.
You can definitely find cheap AI's in Mexico. Elizabeth is right that you can go on weather.com and they'll fill you in if the place you choose and when hurricane season is.

Bummer.. the Fiesta is June 5.
I guess that means no WI trip... LOL
BOO! And I think that's the weekend my mom wants to do my sister's bridal shower. We're tacky like that and throw each other's showers.

We do too... I've never known someone who's family didn't throw them a shower.
