Favorite Christmas Carole?
I usually love religious songs, which is funny since I'm not. I guess because I grew up Catholic.
My favorites are God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Three Ships, and Come Thy Fount of Every Blessing (which I guess isn't technically a Chrismtmas song).
Oh and Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You". My siblings and I are kind of obsessed with it.
Re: Favorite Christmas Carole?
I was raised Catholic, but am no longer religious. However, I love Carol of the Bells and Silent Night. They're just so pretty IMO.
ETA: O Holy Night. Duh. I couldn't think of it and then saw Karrey's post. I usually prefer this and Silent Night in German though because I learned them that way.
I'm a big fan of almost all Christmas music, but my absolute favorites are classic Christmas songs (like from the 40s and 50s). I PPH Bing Crosby. Santa Baby, Baby it's Cold Outside, White Christmas, Silver Bells, Man with the Bag, to name a few, all are some of my faves.
Santa Baby cause I just like to sing it completely stupid. It's great fun.
After years and years of retail and Christmas re-mix songs....I love them all. Some of the redone songs are fantastic but for the life of me I can't think of any of them.
I love love love O Holy Night.
Ditto....
but I love me some "Hippopotomus for Christmas"-guessing it's not a carole, though... or anything from the movie White Christmas!
I think Rudolph is my favorite to sing along to.
This song makes me want to scratch her eyes out. What is wrong with her voice?!! It sounds like she's puckering her lips while she's singing! It would be hilarious if I could handle that voice!
I love Oh Holy Night, Baby it's Cold Outside, Silver Bells, Rockin Around the Christmas Tree
My dad used to sing - this is so random & weird - "Dudolph the black-nosed horse-dog???!!" LOL he is such a strange guy, I don't know where that came from!
Triple dipple ditto!!! I LOVE this song!!!!!
O Holy Night is my favorite. I also love the three-verse Gospel Choir version of Silent Night.
When we perform 12 Days of Christmas at Disney Hall, each section stands and sings one of the Days...it's SO fun. There's a version of the "Twelve Drinks of Christmas" with a woman at the piano getting drunker and drunker that I find totally hilarious. And if you're feeling irritated with DH, listen to the "Twelve Days After Christmas." You can find it on youtube.
I love any of the standards with all my heart. I've been singing Man with a Bag ever since our office party. And Blue Christmas.
And when All I Want for Christmas comes on, I want to do the Love Actually dance.
I have NEVER heard this Hippo song...gotta get my hands on it.
O Holy Night - hands down!
Silent Night and Fairytale of New York (The Pogues) come in a close second.
