Anyone looking to purchase beef???

Not sure if anyone is looking into buy beef this winter, but we went and visited the Bare Family Farm two weekends ago. They raise 6 calfs a year and are selling it by the whole, side of quarter and it's $2.95/lb hanging weight. A side is about 240 lbs hanging (so about 200 lbs of packaged meat).

It is all grass fed and finished on a very small amount of corn since the grass has stopped growing with the weather. The beef is being processed at Davidson's in Waynesville on Dec. 29th and will be available Jan. 16th for pick-up at their farm in Liberty Township (about 10 minutes off the Monroe exit).

This is about what you can expect to recieve from a quarter: 12 T-bone Steaks, 12 lbs Chuck Roast, 50 lbs Hamburger, 6 Sirloin Steaks, 1 Rump Roast, 5 Round Steaks, and 10 Rib Eye. So approx. $3/lb for some of those steaks is an incredible value!

And if you are worried about freezer space, a quarter only takes up about 4-5 cu ft.

Here is their info in case anyone is interested http://www.localharvest.org/farms/M19703

  • I am definitely interested... thank you for posting this.   Can you tell me about how much a quarter would cost?

They said they are expecting a side to be about 240 lbs, making a quarter about 120 lbs x $2.95/lb. I don't have a calc near me but it's a little less than $360.
