I was so glad to finally have my christmas shopping done this last weekend, and I spend most of my time deciding on my sisters present, which I got her perfume she asked for. She told me after I bought it, that she was going to ask her FI to buy it for her. So, I text him and said that I would had gotten it for her so he didn't have to bother. He text me back and said 'ok thats cool, thanks for telling me'. That was Wednesday.
On Sunday afternoon I get a text from my sister saying 'FI just took me to pick out my perfume! I got ___ it's like a mix of the two I really liked when we went together.' So, what a d-bag. I told him I got her perfume already, and he turns around a few days later and goes out and buys her some anyway, totally disregarding the fact that this was my present for her and I made sure to let him know that so this didn't happen. Plus, he let her pick whatever she wanted, so of course it's some uber expensive one and mine is not. I can't give her mine anyway because I know it will just sit in a drawer and never get used since the one her FI got her is so much more expensive.
So now I have this perfume detagged and wrapped under the tree, and I can't even give it to her. Plus...I bought it in Des Moines which is about an hour from where I live, and with snow expected everyday this week, I won't be able to exchange it before Christmas. So, now I have 2 days to find another gift for her and hope that I can return the perfume since I already took the price tag off, I do still have the receipt. But ugh!! The nerve to go and do that knowing he was ruining my gift! Grrrr....
Re: I'm not gonna lie...my sister's FI is ticking me off
Are you sure she wouldn't use it? I have a few different bottles that I use, one that is my regular (Marc Jacobs Daisy) and then a few others I rotate when I'm in the mood for something different. They range in price from cheap (Avon) to expensive...it just depends on my mood.
I would say something to her FI, though. I wouldn't call him out on it in front of her, just let him know you were really excited to give your sis a gift you knew she'd love and you were disappointed he got her the same thing after you'd already told him.

I would be piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissssssssssssssssssssssssssssssed. Props to you for not sending him nasty text messages or anything.
That being said, give her the perfume anyway. I'm sure she'll still like it. And give her FI a dirty look when you do, just for me!
My Blog!
I hope you gave it to her anyway...and if I were you I would have made sure she opened your gift first (if possible). He's a jerk face and clearly not creative enough to come up with something on his own.
